Root timeline
Root Involvement:
His younger brother, Goku had seemingly defeated their race's greatest enemy, Freeza, on planet Namek, but it had also appeared that he, himself was caught in the explosion of the dying planet. Thinking of what to do for himself since he was now a free man by all intents, he waited on Earth with the others as they gathered the dragonballs to use in order to revive their friends who had died previously. No one to really be social, he kept to himself and like Vegeta, continued his training. It wasn't long before a certain someone had come to Earth. Coola, under the impression that the Saiyan who had killed his younger brother survived and made his way back to Earth. The fight between Raditz and Coola was intense. Older Brother versus Older Brother had been a much harder fight than either expected, pushing one another to their limit. Coola, deciding that he had no choice, transformed into his next stage, completely dominating Raditz in every way. Gohan seeking to help his uncle, was nearly killed. Forced to watch that, Raditz had surrendered to his rage as he transformed into a Super Saiyan, turning the one sided fight around completely. After managing to finish off Coola, Raditz took the time to recover. That was when his scouter began to receive a signal. After all this time spent working under Freeza for so long, it seemed that there was a group of surviving Saiyans who had managed to take a planet and called it their home, sending out a call for all remaining Saiyans to "Come Home". Despite having called Earth his home now, he knew that he wouldn't truly be at home among them like his brother had, so saying his farewells, he entered his ship that was made for his travel to Namek and made his way towards this new planet for Saiyans. Planet Might.
He had heard a few stories of the planet before, having worked a few times with Turles before his arrival on Earth. Fruit that when eaten would increase your strength by magnitudes. He'd be lying if he said that never interested him. Arriving on the planet, he found the "leader" Arugo and the other Saiyans that had responded to the signal. It wasn't long before he had grown to like these people, being among his own race once again was relieving. He had even grown to considering two of them like family, Ama and her younger brother Tulce, despite them being Elite class while he was only Middle class. The "Good life" wouldn't last long however, as it seemed that two particular Saiyans had different plans when they heard the signal from Might. Paragus with Brolly firmly under his control arrived on Might when Arugo had not been present, leaving Ama the one in command until his return. Paragus tried to talk his way into having them all swear fealty to him instead of Arugo, that he would be a much better "Ruler" than Arugo. He received his answer in the form of adamant denial. Expecting nothing less, he began to wage war on the planet to claim it for himself, taking on Ama by himself leaving Brolly to fight Raditz and Tulce, the only ones at the time present.
Raditz and Tulce fought with everything they had, but Brolly was a monster in all sense of the word. Even after transforming into a Super Saiyan to fight on par with a Super Saiyan Brolly, Raditz could only barely stand up to the other, but even the little amount of resistance they gave Brolly seem to make something inside the him snap, forcing him to transform into his "Legendary" state. So thrown off by this, fear had gripped Raditz like a snake coiling around his heart. He was forced to watch as Tulce was brutally crushed underfoot as Brolly repeatedly jumped up and down on the child's corpse. Tulce's death was because of Raditz's inaction, he knew this. With reckless abandon, he charged Brolly no longer caring if he died himself, actually, he was seeking his own death. Seeing everything that had happened, Ama decided to try and blindside Brolly in the attempts to distract Brolly. All this managed was to change Brolly's target from Raditz to her. The fighting was fierce, but ultimately, to no avail. Again, Raditz was forced to watch as another comrade died to this monster. Through out the entire fight, they had tried sending word to Arugo in hopes of him returning. Not only did he never arrive, but it seemed that their pleas for help were ignored.
Something within Raditz snapped. Like a dam breaking because of too much water. Power surged forth from him as he ascended past the first form of Super Saiyan, becoming a Super Saiyan 2. The fight renewed at an increased fervor, but even still, Raditz was outmatched by the immense power of the Legendary Super Saiyan. With just enough strength remaining, Raditz was able to flee with the intent on surviving so that he could take his revenge at a later date. After all, if he died then, then the other's would never forgive him for not at least taking an arm off of Brolly as a prize. Fleeing the planet, he roamed the universe training so that he could fight and kill Brolly. It wasn't long before he was approached by someone, someone that had been looking for him specifically. The man said his name was Ikura.
