They send him off to poison the Lord that over-taxed their business, or ruin the marriageability of the local Duchess, or... Other stuff he would be too lazy or too nice to do on his own volition. It's usually one part being compelled by the ritual they used, and one part being completely and utterly devoted to a pretty face that shows him any sort of positive (or negative) attention.
He's a hopeless romantic. He falls in what he can only assume is love more easily than rain falls from a bursting rain cloud. It's to a point where he can easily become so obsessed with his Master or his Mistress (or whatever they wish for him to call them) that he will kill for them without their asking him to--and kill to keep them away from those who would otherwise steal their heart away. It's his. No touchie.
As the years have passed, he has also picked up one lesser domain: Corruption. It has become an inextricable part of his "Devilish Influence" - a thing he exerts mindfully, but also not-so mindfully, upon those of weak will, which tends to make him seem more endearing in spite of their alignment. It has a chance to erode at their morals and ethics, if they have either of those things.
Lastly: he has a big heckin' weak spot for priests and elves, especially if they're cute.
