For generations, the Ryuu Wolf Pack has been living in the remote woodlands of Saskatchewan. They live in touch with nature and away from the world of man. The clan have erected houses, up in the trees, where they will remain unbothered by competing wolf packs, in the area. Wolves are not natural climbers, so they have a pulley system to get their own up into the village. Their village remains closed to the general public and one may only enter by formal invitation by the pack alpha. Due to them living up in the treetops, they have developed a close relationship with birds, particularly owls as owls are the most relaxed and approachable of the avian race (not to mention, they are nocturnal, just like the wolves are).
The first born, male descendant of the pack alpha becomes the next alpha. Since its inception, nobody in this pack has dared challenge this tradition. Nobody, that is, until Killian came of age. Killian is the second born male descendant of the alpha. The second born male is charged with the task of hunting and gathering food, for the pack. Though he takes his roles and responsibilities very seriously, he knows that his elder brother is not fit to rule the pack. His brother is sloppy, impressionable, impulsive, hot-headed, and power hungry. His brother will only look out for his best interests and ignore what's best for the pack. Killian has tried reasoning with his parents, but all that they ever say is, "It's our tradition, and you can't change tradition. Lately, Killian has begun to withhold food from his brother, saying that he must do something to earn it, before he can eat. This has caused friction between the family and his brother plans on banishing him from the pack, immediately after he becomes the alpha. He knows that it will either come down to him having to fight his brother for authority, finding a new pack to join, or trying to get through the world on his own. He has spent a lot of time alone in the woods, preparing for this eventuality. He can often to be found honing his skills, out in clearings and by the local waterholes. Killian is nothing like his brother. He is serious to a fault, intellectually adept, understanding and adaptable, friendly to those he meets, he is calm, collected, wise, and quiet. He only hopes that one day his parents realize that they're making a grave mistake.
