The age of sail brought with it untold riches, trade, and expansion. But this Renaissance of an Era also brought discord and war. The major powers of the world sought to expand their empires by laying claim to islands and building colonies while competing with rival nations.
All the same people wishing to be free from the harsh laws of their nations broke from their homelands to seek a wealth of piracy while others took arms and rebelled. Through the fires of war, one man formed a new united republic, and for a while had gained headway.
However treachery would befall this young alliance, and it's captain, Captain Shard fell to betrayal. He would leave behind two half siblings, separated at birth, yet destined to intertwine.
Beatrice Shark was one of those twins. Like her father before her, she too came to the Caribbean to seek her fortunes in a life behind the mask, quickly earning a command of her own. One day though, the young mercenary would receive news of her father's betrayal as she noticed his personal flag had washed up by pier. She knew by then her father had perished and with it the republic. And yet she would continue on. Not as a rebel, but as a mercenary. Coincidentally that very day, she ran into a courier whom had a letter from her late father which contained a mysterious map. However it's contents were hidden due to the parchment being ripped in half.
Nearly a year would pass as Beatrice received another piece of her father's map. This time it had ended in the hands of a sly merchant, whom tried to sell it at an insane price. She refused and threatened the merchant whom gave it up in fear. Just as she had believed, the map was complete, leading to an unmarked island within the Caribbean.
She wasted no time and sailed immediately to the cove and disembarked through the island to find a cave where a massive trove of wealth had been stashed by her deceased father. Of course she could have made off with this fortune. But she was soon trapped by a mysterious man whom held her at sword point. The two clashed until she noticed that he was carrying the other piece of her father's map. To her shock it was her long lost half brother, Blaze Shark whom she hadn't seen since they were children.
The Shark heirs realized their father had brought them here to the trove not to simply be rich, but to stage a new rebellion. Deciding on honoring their late father's last wish, the two siblings joined forces, and restored the alliance. Slowly, the two used what money they had to begin their operation on Isla Mona, then used a small fleet to begin a series of rapid attacks on the neighboring islands and their forts. In several months time, each immediate island quickly fell to the Republic, thus bringing down the full military might of each of the leading Empire into open war against piracy (The Republic).
