You weren't born a fighter, but you'll sure as hell become one.
Vega Kepri was raised like any child, she played, she learned, and she was loved. This changed when her father returned from war, injured and resentful at his own failures. He decided no child of his would be weak like he was.
At the age of 9, her lifestyle changed overnight. Gone were birthdays and holiday celebrations, summer trips to their favorite lakeside cabin, baking pastries, and dancing in the living room while her mother played tunes for her on the fiddle. She became a soldier overnight: rising at dawn, sparring and practicing outside no matter the summer heat or winter snow, studying war and strategy, cooking the meals, and scrubbing their home spotless from top-to-bottom daily. Vega's mother, always a soft, weak woman, couldn't handle the change. She wished to take Vega with her when she left, but even with his injury, she feared the power her husband had. After her mother left, Vega no longer had any light to keep her afloat, and her father's cruel influence corrupted the girl.
Once she was an adult, Vega took up work as a paladin for a church in their city. Unfortunately, her career within the church only lasted for a few years before Vega was dismissed after too many assignments ended with excess bloodshed and force. Vega, desperate to stay out of her father's home, did whatever she could to make money, whether it be mercenary jobs, gambling, or participating in fighting rings.
During a fight, she was spotted by the cruel prince Aamon, a man with a love for bloodshed, power, and the suffering of others. He recruited Vega into his guard, and with nowhere better to go, she accepted. Under Aamon, she's tasked with all sorts of brutal, villainous, dirty work. A small part of Vega wishes she could have built her life on something other than the suffering of others, but at this point, she might be in too deep.
