An elder that served as a career officer within the Helic Republic during the Chaotic Century. Having served both the great war and the renewed Helic/Guylos War of the late century, Kruger rose through the ranks while training some of the most prominent officers.
He was a brilliant tactician, having been able to outsmart most computer simulations while also being able to predict the outcome of most battles, while even finding clever ways to turn the tide of combat in the Republic's favor. because of this, Colonel Kruger garnered the respect from both his peers, but also the President. During the renewed war, Kruger was called into service while stationed at Mount Osa, a base he calculated as an acceptable risk. The Empire was rapidly taking territory in their efforts to claim lost lands, but he understood that a base, set to detonate would act as not only a major obstacle for the Empire to counter, but as a deterrent for another major invasion. If at least for a time. This gave the Republic ample time to counter with a better battle plan and a new variant of Gojulas, known as the experimental Z-G.
While the Z-G was a daunting Zoid, it only slowed the advance of the Empire marginally. Eventually Kruger would be called to defend the very capital against a full scale invasion of Imperial forces. Previously, he had been hit by a nearby artillery round, causing the elder officer to recover in the infirmary, where he began to run several calculated mission specs on an inevitable invasion. To his solemn predictions, each one ended in an Imperial Victory. But he was not about to loose the war. Even if it meant destroying one of the major bases. TO him, the plan was simple. For the base's reactor had been built upon an active volcanoe~ using its energy as a steady power supply. Overloading that would have caused a punishing blow to the Imperial forces, while the Republic would only suffer minor damages, and at worst would be forced to build a new outpost.
With his plan in motion, he would set out to evacuate the base, as per the word of the predicted invasion came upon New Helic city. But the detonator proved faulty. Had it not been for the timely intervention of new allies he would have sacrificed himself in order to manually detonate the bombs. With a little "persuasion" (Albeit knocked out cold) he was taken to a parked Pteras, where remote detonation was used. Though the plan ultimately failed. The only option was then to fire a series of missiles into the culdera at its weakest point in order to cause a chain reaction.
With enough force, the missiles caused the volcanic base to erupt and in turn caused all attacking Zoids to flee in a frenzied panic. For the Empire, this meant an embarrassing defeat, as the base would have meant the Republic would have been boxed in and therefore easily annihilated. But with the base gone, no rear flank to protect them, and now the evacuated republic forces to serve as reinforcements for the front line, the Empire had no choice but to surrender and begin talks for a ceasefire.
Kruger would soon return back to his normal posting with high awards from the President of the Republic, though he would soon be called to a top secret project in a few years time.
Soon, with the formation of the Guardian Force, Operation Wyndeem went into full swing. For at Wyndeem Lake, rested a fossilized behemoth of a Zoid. A top secret weapon and mobile fortress should the worst happen. And eventually that Zoid would in fact be called upon. As a world ending crisis reared its head, and the Republic would fall, the massive titan known as Ulturasaurus would be resurrected to fight the calamity, while Kruger would help oversee the final operation.
