Arina Makihara, age eighteen, is the true identity of the former Vigilante and now Professional Heroine known as "The Hare of Justice" Waku Waku 7.
Arina is a Hare Beastkin, the oldest daughter of (you guessed it) a Hare Beastkin couple. Arina's family was quite poor as she was growing up, and being from a different species didn't make things any easier. Often bullied, mocked and discriminated against, an initially innocent and kind hearted Arina used the only thing she had to rebel: her abilities as a beastkin. Up until she was almost done with School, Arina used her superior speed and strength to become the bully herself. She became rebel, arrogant, mean, and someone who would solve everything with violence, whether she was in the right or not. Needless to say, this got Arina into all sorts of trouble with her school, athorities, and of course her family. Eventually she reached highschool, and things began to change in a slightly better direction. Arina was able to finally make human friends, and while she remained a bit of rulebreaker, her good nature slowly resurfaced over the few years that followed.
By age fifteen, Arina's might was seriously put to the test for the first time in her life when she became one of the seven warriors chosen to hold one of seven magical gems that, once together, would grant any wish. Arina defeated the other six fighters and claimed all seven gems to herself, only to find out it was all a trap. Once all gems were together, the magical fairy that would grant her wish was freed...but so was the Demon King Fernandeath. It was a very close call, but Arina managed to defeat Fernandeath and finally have her wish granted. What was her wish? She'd kill you before telling...and it's not like it matters anyway, since it heavily backfired and ended in pretty much nothing.
But as some say, the true treasure is the friends we make on the way, and Arina sure made some of those. Arina grew stronger and wiser after the crazy experience. She made new friends, learned more about herself, and even turned to a new leaf, so to speak. Arina was not more humble and kind, and her wishes and ambitions shifted to a strong, burning desire to become a Hero of Justice. Once she finished highschool at age sixteen, Arina began calling herself "The Hare of Justice" and patrolling her hometown as a Vigilante. For the next two years, she kept gaining experience and skill, and her body grew stronger and faster than ever before. She was invincible!!! No villain was a match for her!!!
Or that's what she thought. A man who goes by the name of "Kuro" showed Arina just how real fights worked...by punching her face in, real bad. And he wasn't a Demon King, or another Beastkin, or an Alien...no, this Kuro guy was just human. After a crushing defeat, Arina changed again. She retired from being a Vigilante, took her training more seriously than ever, then applied to become an actual Heroine by legal means via the Hero Association, obtaining her license pretty much right away, and quickly hopping her way up to the upper parts of B-Class. While she could be higher that that, she chooses not to for the moment. Having grown a bit more mature, she wants to make sure she's extra ready for every step forward she takes, and isn't all that worried about fame or lack thereof anymore. Now able to help in sustaining her family thanks to what she gets paid (and her many, many, many younger siblings), Arina focuses in her work as an, at last, real Heroine, and in becoming stronger, perhaps stronger than the man who defeated her so easily in the past, a man she now idolizes.
Arina's natural abilities as a Hare Beastkin include a combination of physical strength, speed, stamina and reflexes far beyond superhuman levels. These characteristics are improved even further thanks to a heart and a set of lungs far bigger and stronger than a human's, able to take an enormous flow of blood and oxygen. Combined with her training through the years, Arina is now able to run at speeds of Mach 1.5 (even vertically), land from pretty much any height without taking any damage thanks to her ludricrously strong legs, and, speaking of legs, kick even heavy vehicles a few Kilometers away without breaking a sweat, as well as jump several hundred Meters up in the air with ease. But her nature as a Hare Beastkin has even more perks. Arina's senses of hearing and smell are extremely sharp, and allow her to locate people or items humans can't. She's got the reflexes to even dodge bullets with ease, and can force her body into entering an emergency mode she calls "Super Arina". Her strength and speed double...but sadly not even her powerful heart can keep this state for more than a few seconds, draining pretty much all of Arina's stamina in the process. She tries not to rely on this too much, as it can cause serious and even permanent injuries if misused.
Of course Hare Beastkin have more drawbacks than that, and Arina is no exception to this rule. Her long ears are the main one. While they do grant Arina a superhuman sense of hearing, they're extremely sensitive, and having them pulled strongly enough will make her lose all of her strength, and will only return when they're let go. Caressing or rubbing them will force the Hare of Justice to remain inactive and eventually fall asleep.
