I always saw how happy someone can make them. Looking at the smile they always had while their significant other was around. I always wondered, what was it like to be so numb to everything, to be in love with someone. Kanao Tsuyuri was that girl for me. She had that smile, that sweet innocent demeanor, and I couldn't get enough of her. Our relationship was slow at first, what'd you expect? I'm really fucking shy and so is she. However, since that wall has been destroyed, I can't get enough of her. The way she smiles at me melts me down to my core. I love her. I never knew someone could look past the scars, the obnoxiously psycho brother, and see me. She may just be the one that I'll spend forever with. Spoiler alert, she will be. ●Personality: Genya is initially a foul-mouthed and ill-tempered individual; a "lone wolf" who refused any help from others and did not show any interest in being polite or having any manners. During the Final Selection, he roughly handled Kanata Ubuyashiki by grabbing her hair and yelling at her. His ill temper and brash way of speaking heavily resembles that of his older brother, Sanemi.
He became more open to cooperation during the battle against Hantengu, an Upper Rank Demon, where he worked alongside Tanjiro Kamado, Mitsuri Kanroji, and Nezuko Kamado. After some time, he learned to become more sociable and less ill-mannered towards others, particularly towards Tanjiro and his friends.
Sanemi's refusal to acknowledge Genya also made him insecure as he came to realize just how weak he is compared to his companions. Nonetheless, he did whatever he could to help his allies, even if it got him horribly maimed in the process. Despite his brother's harsh rebukes, he bore no ill will towards him, a belief reinforced by Tanjiro and eventually by Sanemi himself.
●Physical Description: At the time of his debut during the Final Selection, Genya was a short, young man with large, inward-slanting eyes. The space where his eyebrows would've been is constantly furrowed, which gave him a permanently angered appearance. His hair is styled into a buzz cut, with only a small clump of messy black hair left to grow on the top of his head. He also possessed a large, jagged scar that ran over his right cheekbone from his ear and to over his nose.
During his first appearance, Genya is seen wearing a purple, sleeveless yukata over a plain black shirt with long sleeves.
Later on, when seen again in the Butterfly Mansion, Genya had a much more feral appearance, having undergone a growth spurt that put him at almost six feet tall. His hair is also much longer, worn in more of a mohawk style, the strands much longer and visible around his neck. It is also noted that he became more muscular and gained many more scars all over his body.
After the Swordsmith Village Arc, his hair gains bright yellow tips.
After becoming a Demon Slayer, his outfit changed to a dark olive-green version of the Demon Slayer uniform, over which he still sported his old purple yukata.
Powers&Abilities

✖.Demonic Transformation: By consuming the live flesh of a Demon, Genya could temporarily gain demonic attributes from it. Depending on the strength of the individual, he could gain regeneration and physical strength equal to one. In this form, Genya is capable of overpowering Aizetsu briefly.
✖.Upper Rank Four Empowerment: After consuming the wood created by Zohakuten, Genya had enough strength and speed to throw 3 trees in quick succession. In his battle against Kokushibo, the full extent of his demonification upon eating some of the Upper Rank 4's flesh is shown that despite Kokushibo viciously bifurcating him across his abdomen and cutting of both of his arms, he still did not die, showing that like a genuine demon, Genya could now only be killed by decapitation.
✖.Upper Rank One Empowerment: Upon eating the hair of Kokushibo, Genya's demonic abilities were further enhanced, as seen when he managed to reattach his severed body in mere seconds and is even able to intercept the telepathic communication of Muzan Kibutsuji. Upon eating a piece of the Upper Rank's Flesh Sword, Genya even began taking up several of Upper Rank One's physical characteristics such as his eyes and hair. Later, the full extent of his enhanced demon abilities is shown that even when he is bifurcated and half his head is sliced cleanly in half, Genya is not only still alive and conscious but still possessed the necessary strength to activate his Blood Demon Arts. However, upon succumbing to his severe wounds, Genya much like a genuine demon, disintegrated to ash.
✖.Flesh Gun: Genya displayed the ability to detach his cells and merge them with his gun, with the gun having the same characteristics of Kokushibo's sword of having multiple eyes on top of the barrel and muzzle, which presumably increases its accuracy and power.
✖.Repetitive Action: A technique taught to him by Gyomei Himejima to help him compensate for his lack of talent and aptitude to use Breathing Styles. This Technique mainly focuses on Genya repeating a set of words or phrases that assists him to focus on his given task properly and keep his mind clear and block out pain. For Genya, he repeats a set of prayer of the Amida Sutra to help him focus and steel his mind, as seen where he used this technique to focus his mind after being fatally injured fighting Hantengu's Clone Aizetsu and to a degree, replicate the effects of Total Concentration Breathing.
✖.Expert Marksman: Genya possesses exceptional skill in wielding his double-barreled shotgun, effectively utilizing it in battle with both Upper Rank Four and One.
✖.Expert Swordsman: Before he opted to use a shotgun, Genya's main weapon was a short Nichirin Katana, and it was implied that he was decently proficient in using it against demons.
✖.Blood Demon Art: Due to having eaten the flesh and cells of at least two Upper Ranks (Kokushibo and Hantengu), Genya had seemingly developed his own Blood Demon Art while in the heat of battle against Upper Rank One. Similarly to Nezuko's Blood Demon Art, Genya's own were also tailored to battle and do damage to other demons.
✖.Wooden Flesh Bullets: Due to eating the cells of Upper Rank One and Upper Rank Four, Genya had developed a unique technique where he merges his demon-transformed cells with his sun steel bullets and gun, that, when fired, the direction and velocity of the bullets could be freely manipulated by Genya to easily move around obstructions between the bullet and the intended target, as seen when his bullets moved around Kokushibo's sword, directly burying themselves into his flesh. Once inside its target, the bullets can immediately grow into a gigantic tree similar to the tree creatures of Upper Rank Four's Zohakuten form and then entangle and wrap around the intended target, paralyzing them.
✖.Blood Roots: Genya could further alter his embedded Flesh Bullets by having them take root inside his target and suck the demon's blood from inside their body, effectively preventing them from activating their own Blood Demon Art.
The Devour Hashira | AU Storyline
Pre-manga/anime:
When Sanemi found his way to the demon slayer corp, Genya had already been found and taken in by Gyomei. Not only was Genya excited to see his long-lost brother, but he realized that his brother had changed. He had cuts, and gashes and the look in his eye warned little Genya to stay away. Genya had spent some time playing with the little stoic girl named Kanao, or at least trying to play. She wasn't very attentive or willing to do much of anything but flip a coin and act. It was a hit or miss, which discouraged Genya, making him lean more toward training and hoping he could prove to his brother that he could be like him.
Current Manga/Anime (Seasons 1-3):
He realized that he couldn't successfully activate a breathing technique, no matter how hard he tried. He had successfully beaten the final selection and demanded his Nichirin sword. Although Tanjiro broke his arm due to his actions, he picked out his ore and moved on, returning to Gyomei's care and training. Although the need to be more powerful, he had heard of the weird new weapon that was slowly making its way into Japan, the gun. He spoke to his swordsmith and using a gun that was taken from a dead raider, he had it manipulated and turned into a Nichirin shotgun. Using the shavings of the ore, and any that were left of other Nichirin creations, the swordsmith guaranteed to have bullets made specifically for him.
His training wasn't over. He had another goal in mind and that is to climb the ranks to Hashira where he knew his brother would acknowledge him. Taking every mission that he could, he fought hard, pushing through the bloodshed. It wasn't until a demon had him pinned against a tree is when he bit the man's arm, sinking his fangs into the flesh and ripping his arm open. The taste? Why did he crave it?
It was then he realized what his abilities could do. He was a Demon eater, a devourer. A way to gain power is like a breathing ability. However, by devouring demons, he temporarily becomes one, which is contradicting his job. However, after speaking to the Master and Gyomei, they believe his abilities will never betray him. So he made it a goal to never allow the demon to consume him as he consumed it.
He didn't start respecting others until after the end of the Swordsman Village mission. When he saw how Tanjiro and Nezuko acted together, how much he fought to keep everyone he could safe. How he felt like he was on death's door so many times. It was then that he realized he needed to make amends with his older brother and he needed to train harder.
Season 4+ with AU split:
He took the opportunity to train with anyone and everyone he could. He knew the time was coming and for every mission he took, he wished it was a lower or upper moon. He needed that kill. He needed to advance and show Sanemi he could be just like him, but every chance he got, it was taken from him either by the moons disappearing or someone else taking the kill. It was getting frustrating, however, he didn't stop trying. During one mission, his demonic abilities faded too soon, leaving him too injured to heal on his own, and had to be placed in the infirmary.
When he woke, he was greeted by Kanao who was helping nurse him back together. It was different than the past times he had seen and tried to talk to Kanao. This time? He saw her differently. As he fought to talk to her, to stop blushing a bright red, he realized one thing. He was so insanely in love with her. Even though they had jobs and they were both incredibly shy, he needed to be near her.
At the age of sixteen, Genya started courting Kanao, earning the blessing immediately from Kanae, however, it was not granted by Shinobu. He worked hard throughout their training to fight his shyness and work on being close to her.
The main battle was ahead, both Muichiro Tokito and Genya moved into one of the rooms of the infinity castle, finding the closest target. Unfortunately, their target immediately became Kokushibo, the upper moon one. Honestly, both he and Tokito were overwhelmed immediately and the roles didn't change until his brother and Gyomei showed up. Upon eating the hair of Kokushibo and a piece of his weapon, he gained so much power and abilities. His body was able to form back together, reforming organs, skin, nerves, everything. He grasped his gun, which took a different shape, a permanent one. His hair grew, and a mark appeared, bringing out this adrenaline rush that he had never felt before.
Genya fought hard and was once again defeated, his head sliced in half, and using all energy that he could shot at Kokushibo, planting Hantengu's blood art in his body. Helping the two hashiras defeat the upper moon. Gyomei and Sanemi had believed Genya was dying, but slowly, his head was beginning to form back together. However before Sanemi could confirm he was going to survive, Gyomei pulled him away to go after Muzan.
Genya lay there, his body slowly forming. He pushed himself over to the healed side, allowing his body to form. It hurt, but it was working. When he finally healed completely, he pushed himself up, his eyes flicking black with yellow pupils, moving around the room. He saw Tokito, but Kyoko, the scientist Hashira had already made it to him. He heard Tokito gasp out air and instantly she was on him. She checked him over, and she handed him a vial, telling him to drink it.
Opening the vial as she ran off, he downed the vial and ran after her. He could hear his brother screaming, but it wasn't in pain but in anger. When he came to the clearing where his brother was, he could see the large figure of a man lying on the ground not far from him. Gyomei was unconscious, which instantly got the attention of Kyoko.
Genya came to a halt and stared at his brother, who stared at him. He had tears streaming down his face and Genya could see the shock that was consuming him. For the first time since kids, the brothers hugged. Sanemi began to tell everyone that was around that Muzan ran. That there was no trace of him and that the war wasn't over yet.
After the battle and Two years later:
The brothers made amends, working on that brotherly friendship they had as kids. They were planning on living together, but after returning, Genya could tell that his brother's heart lay elsewhere. Which was the same as his own. Especially when his eyes landed on the young butterfly girl, injured a little, but alive. He saw her talking with Tanjiro, but when she saw him, no one else mattered. She ran to him and jumped into his arms. Genya was so happy that he was able to live to see that smile again.
They spend the next two years training together, spending time together, and pushing past the shy barrier that they both carried. On his eighteenth birthday, a new rule was placed by Gyomei, he became a Hashira. He took on the title of the Devour Hashira. He watched as Kanae finally retired, and when his girlfriend turned eighteen, she too took on the rank of Flower Hashira, stepping into the position of her elder sister.
That night of Kanao's birthday, Genya realized that he just couldn't live without her and hated when she left him, even if it was for the night. So he proposed. He realized that he wanted no one else in his life and he wanted her for an eternity. Upon speaking to the Master, who was getting better thanks to Kyoko, he had coached them on what to do to legalize their marriage. A month after their engagement, Genya was asked to go to the main capital, but before he left, he and Kanao decided to sign the family registry and confirm their marriage. When he returned from the city, he picked her up in his arms and greeted her as his official wife, Kanao Shinazugawa.
What vial did Kyoko give Genya that night that he almost died? A cure. It was a cure for the demon slayer mark that she had been working on for years. She perfected it with the help of Kanae and Shinobu, which ended up saving Gyomei's life.

You have a very interesting character. I do like the fact that you're roleplaying a horror based woman and I've always loved horror based roleplays. I'm very curious as to how you'll rp this Bloody Mary especially with my character, Genya. I always have to ask however when it comes to my character; Have you seen Demon Slayer KNY and if so, how far are you into it? Do you know my character, Genya Shinazugawa? I ask these questions because I hate to be the one that spoils it for people. Genya is a huge spoiler if people haven't read the manga and I want to know how much I should leave out.
I’ll make sure to do that when we start writing in messages then,hah! And oh no worries I just know enough to ground things and completely understandable on that end too. It’s very hard for me to stick to series like that myself but it was enough to keep my interest somehow haha! As for Crescendo…he’s just a sweet guy, if that makes sense. His background basically just has him involved with a dysfunctional family: his Mother ends up passing away around his middle school years where his Father then turns to drinking and blaming it on him. His Quirk isn’t really anything special (basically a Siren call. He can manipulate emotions depending on vocal tones) so he’s seen as worthless. Doesn’t help his interests lie in identifying as gay (and no worries I read and DEFINITELY dont want anything romantic. That is definitely something that would need to be discussed and arranged and prooobably for a years later scenario IF it ever came to be LOL). Despite all that Crescendo manages to graduate and become a support type hero and to value himself and now just seeks to protect and do what he can for others!
