About me: Being the director of the Academy, Clavell takes his duties very seriously in maintaining discipline. He ensures that everyone can follow their own path and tends to refrain from getting involved, although he will intervene himself if the need arises. Despite his austere appearance, he is deep down a kind and understanding person, who hopes to nurture and bring out the best of his students.
Prior to the start of the game, Clavell took the position of director from Harrington following a bullying scandal that caused the former faculty of the academy to resign. One issue that Clavell had was that of Team Star, as its members were constantly skipping classes and breaking many rules. He ultimately decreed that they return or risk expulsion.
At the start of the game, when the player intends to arrive for the first day of school, Clavell personally visits their home in part due to an accounting error that required his attention. He offered them the region's starter Pokémon before visiting Nemona's home. After seeing them get along and pick their Pokémon, Clavell took the remaining Pokémon that hadn't been picked under his own care.
During the Victory Road storyline, Clavell appears as Mr. Walksabout during Iono's stream as part of the Levincia Gym Test. Iono hosts a minigame dubbed "Where in Levincia is Mr. Walksabout?", in which the player has to find Clavell three times among hordes of people in different parts of the city to past the Gym Test.
During the events of Starfall Street, Clavell, wanting to learn about Team Star's origins, decided to go incognito under the alias Clive and assisted the player in raiding the bases and defeating their bosses. As each base fell, Clavell learned that the team had been formed due to rampant bullying and that they were waiting for their big boss to return, understanding the situation by the time the last boss was defeated. He then claimed that he was Cassiopeia and had the player meet them outside the academy for an impromptu match, which he lost. He then stated that he knew who Cassiopeia was and had requested a battle, as he would handle it himself should they be unable to. However, the battle was not unnoticed and he was then dragged by Tyme to write an apology letter.
After finishing up the letter, he met with the player and Cassiopeia at the courtyard where he recorded the battle to the other bosses before bringing them in. At this time, he understood what they had gone through and revoked his decree, but "punished" them to community service by having them tend to the newly formed Star Training Centers as he was deeply impressed by the layout and tactics they used.
