Vin vs. Team Samui

Vin vs. Team Samui

Vin did her best to look small and backed herself unobtrusively into a corner. The door was halfway down the wall to her right side. Too far to dive for. Plus, it opened towards her. Vin was on her own and stuck in a confrontation she could not escape. Once upon a time, Vin was certain she would never be in this situation, never being able to draw attention to herself. That was dangerous. Being close to the Raikage made her a mark. Only a few weeks in Kumogakure and Vin was already getting careless. And soft, letting Winery drag her into this. Even without the Byakugan active she could keep all three ninja in view from the corner.

Karui smiled wickedly. Her golden eyes narrowed sharply, stunningly bright surrounded by gold earrings, spiky read hair and a white headband. The tall dark-skinned woman seemed so much stronger than Vin, more confident. Vin wondered if she had ever been afraid. Truly afraid of more than death. Karui drew her katana and tossed the sheath into the wall on Vin’s left. Nobody said a thing. Vin was on her own.

Next to Karui, Omoi sighed, not sure this was the kind of end to his boredom that he was looking for. His teammate was always picking fights, but at least she was never dull. Slowly, reluctantly, Omoi drew the white hilt of his nodachi and casually slung it behind his head and across his shoulder with his right hand. He was face up with Vin but was perfectly fine letting his teammate take the lead.

Atsui was excited to see the fight. He’d been the most antagonistic from the start, with this upstart little shadow of a girl getting all the authority of the Raikage? It was absurd. She was only a chunin, like Atsui, and he was dead set on putting Vin in her place. His katana was in a middle guard already, aimed at the girl. After all, getting Karui and Vin in a fight had been his plan all along. Vin backed herself into a corner and Atsui didn’t waste the opportunity. With a quick Iai jutsu technique he’d picked up working alongside the samurai in the 4th Shinobi war, Atsui added a little fire Chakra to send an explosive wave that would at least hit the wall around Vin. Either way she’d be hit by the blast if not directly incinerated in her corner. Swinging out through his right in the follow through should miss Omoi by a half foot at least. The wall on Atsui’s left acted as an extra defender as he attacked.

Vin saw the movement of Atsui’s Iai jutsu out of the corner of her eye and quickly reached out her right hand from her side. It was all she had time to do. The blade was lethally fast. The bones inside fused together, rolling, and shifting like sand beneath the pale skin. Fingers meshing through the cartilage to connect the carpal bones. All the delicate little bones hardened into a solid shield that was just starting to rip through the skin when the flames smashed into Vin. The smoke and flash burst outwards with a concussive wave that should prevent the kumo shinobi attacking. As the smoke cleared the team should watch as Vin’s hand reformed, with the bones returning to normal, and her skin rapidly healing before their eyes. “Dance of the – “ she says through the smoke. Her byakugan activated and through the haze she saw all.

Karui didn’t like that Atsui was the first attack, she didn’t need any help against Vin, and to prove it she attacked right away. The smoke was just starting to clear. Vin said, “Dance,” and that’s what Karui did. Aiming right for and as she heard the voice, Karui’s katana stretched her entire body out thinly, which put her back to the wall by the door. A silver aura surrounded Karui as she attacked, which created an unfocused effect to her body that drastically increased the perception of how fast her attack was going. The attempt was to make Vin miss-time her defense too early. “Of the ….” Vin should finish saying with the attack coming at her.”

“What was that?” Omoi blurts seeing Vin’s hand. His teammate didn’t care, attacking recklessly. Atsui was even worse. The blast got a bunch of dust and dry wall in Omoi’s white spikey hair. Karui attacked, and Omoi responded by swinging his big Nodachi into a high guard that scraped the ceiling. He was looking to see how Vin survived this next series of attack before trying to cut the girl’s recovery off.

Atsui’s iai jutsu didn’t do the damage he expected, but it connected. That fire kenjutsu should have been more than enough to put Vin on her skinny ass? His eyes narrowed, but Atsui didn’t stop his attack. Surprise meant his form was a little sloppier than usual as he swung back across his body and up in a diagonal line aimed through Vin’s front; right hip all the way to her left shoulder. Through his cut Atsui stepped to his left with his left foot while pushing off his right. Reaching his foot out to the wall, with a bent knee, just before his sword should finish cutting.

“Of the..” Vin finished as the second wave of attacks began. The flashing silver stab in from her right and the slash from her left were in quick succession. Karui tried to attack through the smoke, but the Byakugan sees all, and Atsui was already off because of surprise. It slowed him just a fraction of a second.
