On the surface, Jin Guangyao seems like a kind and caring man. He is modest and calm, acting as the voice of reason when thiings go out of hand. But below the surface, Jin Guangyao is deeply insecure about his origins as a prostitute's son.
Because of his upbringing at the brothel where his mother worked, it's hard for him to trust others and open up completely. Jin Guangyao is also intelligent and determined, obsessively going to any lengths, including murdering his sworn brother, to please his father and earn the latter's acceptance. In addition, he can be loyal and dedicated to his loved ones, but he will turn on them just as quickly if they betray him.

While appearing nonchalant and kind in public, Jin Guangshan is anything but that behind closed doors. He is selflish and power hungry, using every oppurtunity to climb up to the top of the cultivation world. Regardless if it means using his son to eliminate potential rival sect leaders and clans that oppose him. He is also a womanizer and is very prejudiced against women in general, believing that women only exist to please men. Despite being married and terrified of his wife, he still has numerous affairs and sires many illegitimate children, including Jin Guangyao. He is also pretty neglectful of his own children, treating Jin Guangyao like dirt when the latter only wanted his father's love and using Jin Zixuan's death for political gain.
