The dragon and phoenix are the perfect couple in Feng Shui. Dragon is "yang" while Phoenix is "yin", and they complement each other in creating yin-yang balance. The Dragon represents Power, Intelligence, and strength. Hot tempered and strong willed the dragon relies on the cunning and wisdom of the Phoenix to keep the Dragon docile and good natured. While both the Dragon and the Phoenix symbolize fire, heat, and passion they rely on one another to keep their flames and passions alight. Both can be cold, calculating, and uncaring creatures when under attack or threatened. However, when in the company of trusted allies or strong warriors the Dragon and Phoenix provide new experiences, success, wealth, strength, and happiness to those who remain loyal. The Dragon's impulsive and adventurous nature creates a preference to stay hidden in the shadows. Performing its duties in the background where it will not be bothered with the opinions and criticisms of others. Leaving the Phoenix to utilize the Dragon's accomplishments and rise up as the symbol of what they and their allies have accomplished together. None of which could be achieved with even a single missing piece. THE SWORDS symbolize power, protection, authority, strength, and courage; metaphysically, it represents discrimination and the penetrating power of the intellect. The sword is phallic, with the sheath being yonic. It is a symbol of knighthood and chivalry. THE STRATEGISTS The shields of The Rising Phoenix often lying low in the background are the minds, intellect, and wisdom of the organization. 06/27/2019 05:47 PM  Todou Academy Open Enrollment Ooc: All new members are required to enroll their character in Todou Academy. This is to ensure Rpers are given time to adjust to the new environment and truly decide if this is the place for them. Rpers DO NOT have to rp in the school environment if they do not wish to. While we are not strictly a 'School Verse' Role-play group Todou Academy does play a large role in various story lines and story progressions. It is also a wonderful opportunity for new rpers to learn how to create OCs (original characters) if they wish to. All we ask is that everyone be patient as we work to set up interesting events and to please not expect us to do all the work for you. As a collaborative rper it is up to you to own your character and your stories. She is very direct and has little shame. Despite her usual bluntness she is often very indirect when it comes to personal matters. Often opting to simply leave others in the dark about emotional situations rather than deal with it; making her a very selfish individual when it comes to this aspect of life. She does not easily express how she is feeling and prefers to show her emotions through trust, actions, and friendship; rather than speak them aloud. She is most interested in helping others to realize their own potential whether it be in mind or body.  Family History Maya is the middle child of the Head Family of the Natsume. The Natsume originate from the twelve founding families that supported the Takayangi family in the creation of a strong alliance consisting of what is known as Red and White Feather families. These families each possessed specific abilities or forms of fighting styles that made the group the strongest in the country and created Todou Academy, the school famous for being a “fighting paradise”. The Natsume are one of the Red Feather families known for their Dragon’s Eye ability. The loyalties of the 12 founding families was disrubted under Mitsomi Takayangi, as a result of his premature takeover of the Takayangi Head position. This leads to the formation of a group known as “F” who is believed to be controlled by Mitsuomi but is actually being controlled by the head of the Kago family, Sohaku, who turns out to be Souichirou’s father.  After Maya’s brother, Shin Natsume, was killed; Mitsuomi has attempted to get Maya to join him, though she always refuses, believing Mitsuomi to be corrupted by his power and creating a rivalry between the Juuken Club (Maya is leader) and the Executive Council (Mitsuomi is President) of Todou Academy.  Maya’s past is clouded in much mystery as many of the events of her family’s history have been covered up by the Natsume Elders. One of the most dangerous elements of the Dragon’s Eye is the overwhelming need for control and a true sense of self. Without these disciplines the Dragon’s eye will consume the wielder with its power and drive them to insanity whenever possessed by it. This is what happened to Shin Natsume. Maya was given a ceremonial nodachi as a child; instructed to keep it safe, to be its scabbard, and never to allow anyone of Natsume blood to handle the katana. Maya was given this task because of her inability to possess the Dragon’s eye, making her the only one unable to activate the nodachi’s mysterious powers. When wielded by a user of the Dragon’s Eye the blade is able to instantly activate and intensify the power of the Dragon’s Eye. At the age of eight, when she received Reiki, Maya did not understand all of this; leading to her allowing Shin to take the blade and activate his Dragon’s Eye long before he was able to control it. The power drove the young Shin to madness, forcing his parents to lock him away in an underground cell within the Natsume Estates. Maya was the only one allowed to visit him and, for reasons revealed with time, Shin seemed only to be able to remain in control when she was nearby. This created an odd bond between brother and sister making Shin very dependent on and protective of Maya. This dependency would also be their parent’s downfall when they decided to send Shin away to keep him away from their youngest sister, Aya. The night Shin was to be sent away, consumed by fear and the power of the Dragon’s Eye, he killed their parents so he would not have to be separated from Maya. With their parents dead, Shin became head of the Natsume until his own death were Maya, as the next eldest, was obligated to take the role.  Maya & Reiki Reiki is the ceremonial nodachi, presented to Maya when she was eight years old. She was instructed to protect the blade and keep it from the hands of anyone of Natsume blood; a task she thoroughly failed in. Reiki was given to Maya because she, as the only member of the Natsume unable to possess the Dragon’s Eye, would not be able to activate its powers. She was known within the family as Reiki’s Human Sheath. After her brother’s death, she kept Reiki locked away in the Natsume Estates storage room, nearly forgetting its existence during her day to day life. Until, one day, her younger sister; Aya, looking for a weapon to use to become stronger took it from the storage room. Maya, knowing what the blade was capable of doing to her sister, began to search for her; going as far as enlisting the help of Mitsuomi Takayangi and the Executive Council. Once finding Aya with the katana, Maya immediately took it from her, and in her usual fashion, provided no explanation as to why Aya could not use the blade, leaving Aya to simply believe her sister did not think her strong enough. Aya’s belief that Maya did not believe in her strength created a rift in their relationship, among other personal matters, causing Aya to eventually engage her sister in combat. Maya defeated Aya, teaching Aya the importance of emotional control and the difference between the fighting spirit and vengeance. After this pivotal fight both sisters gained a new respect for one another. Though Maya would never let Reiki out of her sight again.  Later, as the group sets out on a rescue mission to save Souichirou from his father, Kago, who has kidnapped him; they are forced to fight Kago’s forces. Maya engages in a battle with Tetsuhito Kagiroi, a member of another Red Feather family that possess the ‘Iron Fist’. During this battle, Maya is seemingly unable to match Kagiroi’s powers and is initially defeated to the point of killing Maya. Aya, who remained behind to train rather than go on the mission, is called through the power of the Dragon’s Eye and Reiki to warn her that Maya was in danger. Aya is able to utilize the Dragon’s Eye to astral project herself to the battle and activate Reiki in order to help Maya. The sisters continue the battle fighting together. However, Kagiroi is still too strong and Aya is unable to keep the connection after a series of blows that leave her unconscious breaking the astral projection. Maya is once again left alone but asks, the still active, Reiki to take her life in order to defeat her opponent. Absorbing Maya’s ki, the blade is revealed to have a ‘true blade’ as an outer casing shatters and finally allows Maya to penetrate Kagiroi’s Iron Body, splitting his arm in half long ways, and killing him by severing his torso.  As a result of her battle against Kagiroi, Reiki having absorbed all of Maya’s ki, Maya is left in a coma like state. Reiki is able to use Maya’s ki to create a solid form and appears to Aya as a naked woman. Aya’s experience communicating with Reiki allows her to realize that Maya is not dead, her ki is simply trapped within Reiki. If they could figure out a way to remove Maya’s ki from the katana and place back within Maya, they would be able to save her. Souichirou’s mother, Makiko, is the only one capable of doing such a thing and without telling the others of the consequences she gives her life to save Maya’s. Maya is unable to understand why Makiko would give her own life for her until it later revealed that Maya possess the Amaterasu Dragon’s Gate which will be needed to defeat Sohaku.  From this point on, Maya and Reiki find they are able to constantly sense one another, as well as utilize each other’s ki to work together in battle. Reiki is able to manifest into her solid form using Maya’s ki while Maya is able to utilize Reiki’s blood abilities. The two have become inseparable and partner’s for life.   Riku Ookami Natsume Riku Natsume is Maya Natsume’s three year old son. He is a very curious and adventure seeking child that enjoys breaking rules for fun, as most young children are. Maya has kept Riku locked away inside the Natsume Estates since his birth, only allowing close friends and family to know his secret. Riku’s father, Mitsuomi Takayangi, does not even know about the boy’s existence; though this is more likely due to Maya’s inability to address personal matters considering Mitsuomi is one of the few individuals she trusts with her life. As a result of Riku’s Natsume/Takayangi bloodline Maya made the decision to keep him hidden, creating a barrier around the Estates that only those of Natsume blood can pass through unless allowed to by Maya herself. This allows the Natsume to focus on Riku’s training concerning the Dragon’s Eye which he has been able to activate since he was two. The precautions also allow Riku to avoid the concerns and pressures of the Takayangi who often ask their younger generation to perform immoral and undesirable tasks in the name of providing for the Takayanagi. 0 Comments

11/07/2018 03:12 PM  OOC History of The Rising Phoenix All basic concepts and foundation work of the The Rising Phoenix are based on the workings of Ito Ogure a.k.a Oh! Great. We do not claim any credit for the ideas, art, and concepts given to us by this amazing individual!  Beginnings:  What is today known as The Rising Phoenix first began as "The Blood Destruction Clan" then evolved into a more canon based group called "The Natsume Clan". Both of these organizations/groups play a part in the history and evolution of the Rising Phoenix as do all of the Roleplayers who have ever participated with us. Though we are actually very small in numbers (most of the founding members having retired) and not well known we strive to see the greatness of the RolePlay Community valued. The entire concept of The Rising Phoenix is the idea that we ALL  have strengths and weaknesses and the only way to get stronger is through our bonds, connections, and relationships with others. WE ARE ALL EQUAL YET DIFFERENT. We embrace our differences and learn from one another through thick and thin. We understand we may not always like or agree with one another but for the greater good we will support and fight for what we believe is right. With this being said, please make sure you consider your involvement with our group carefully! 10/11/2018 01:36 PM  Natsume Clan Head Family: Clan Leader: Maya Natsume Advisor/Next Clan Leader: Aya Natsume Next Generation: Riku Natsume Aya Natsume [ELDER] **seperate character from above** Iyo Natsume [ELDER]  Natsume Dragon's Gate: Dragon's Eye (Ryuugan) The Natsume clan is an old and ancient family that is said to be descendants of Dragons. The family is famous for the Bloodline Ability known as the Dragon's Eye (龍眼, Ryuugan). This ability is said to be able to "see through all things". The ability is focused in the eyes and when activated turns the eye color of the wielder orange and the pupils turn to dragonish slits. The Dragon's Eye allows the potential to see into the past, what is currently happening in the present, as well as the future. The wielder also has the potential to see and speak with the deceased. The strength of the 'seer' is of course dependent on their own skills and abilities. There have been many cases in the Natsume history of users being unable to control this power and therefore are driven crazy by their visions or the spirits of the dead, in most cases this was due to young children activating their Dragon's Eye before they are capable of controlling it.  0 Comments

12/09/2015 02:12 PM  Reiki Reiki was created by Iyo Natsume using her Ki just like Aya did with her hair when she created a false version of the Reiki. After it was created Iyo's mother Himiko Amaterasu imbued her Amaterasu's Dragons Gate, that nullifies all special powers, into the sword. In the present it is considered a ceremonial Nodachi, and a heirloom of the Natsume family. Despite its length classifying it as a nodachi, it is often called a katana. It is very long, with a red sheath and hilt wrap. It has no cross-guard, and the sheath typically has a tattered cloth spiraling down it. In the past it was used to entrap all the power of evil Buddhist ceremonies. Reiki has the ability to enable people with Red Feather powers to use their powers more freely and enhance them. Reiki is vastly influenced by the nature of the wielder, its powers can vary from making it rain to causing the wielder to go on killing sprees. It was given to Maya Natsume by her father, Kaima Natsume, at the age of eight to act as its guardian, since she is the only current member of the Natsume family with no Red Feather/supernatural powers. However, Reiki's spirit told Aya Natsume that eventually the two would merge together and be the katana for the person who will break the chains of fate. This seems to indicate the possession of Reiki has been to Maya Natsume from the very beginning. Reiki actually has a spirit of its own and can manifest itself to those with supernatural abilities. Reiki is generally blamed for Shin Natsume's insanity and although the sword is typically considered evil by most its spirit is not depicted as having malice. Reiki only makes awakening power take less effort. Given the nature of the Dragon's Gates, this often left the wielder to fight with their own power. This combination of Reiki and his power often led Shin to go crazy. However, according to Fu Chi'en, Reiki had also been helping Shin to suppress his powers. Reiki's power even has Sohaku Kago apprehensive of it, as Tetsuhito Kagiroi states no one is a threat to Sohaku if they don't have Reiki. Mitsuomi Takayanagi also dislikes it and wants to destroy it because he feels it brings death. Abilities Reiki's power, simply defined, is the same as the Amaterasu Dragon's Gate, neutralization of power. This is because Himiko Amaterasu, the first owner of the Amaterasu Dragon's Gate, had her gate imbued into the sword. This allows Reiki to consume large quantities of ki, and render those with Red Feather powers as nothing more than "dolls" as Madoka Mawari states. Reiki can only be activated by those with special powers, those with Red Feather blood, and has even awakened powers in some cases. When wielded by someone without special powers it is nothing more than a very long katana. If the wielder establishes a good enough relationship with Reiki, it can even be activated while the user is not in possession of it. When activated the blade allows the user to control and regulate their power better. The sword gains a visible aura around it and emits a piercing sound. While activated the blade also becomes encircled with energy rings with kanji on them, strange symbols appear on the blade as well. While activated Reiki becomes more powerful, even if it can't cut the opponent, they can be burned by the energy it emits. When Reiki's true blade is completely activated by the Dragon's Eye, it uses an excessive amount of ki and can wear most users out in a short period of time.   The reason that Reiki can do this is because of resonance. All gates resonate with each other, to varying degrees and by resonating with other gates it makes the power easier to control and more reliable so just being in the presence of someone else with a power makes your own power easier to use. Even though Reiki has the power of neutralization; gates resonate even if they're not in use. The Amaterasu Dragon's Gate also has the most resonance of any gate, plus its contains the potential for amplification, so resonating with it lets the user fully utilize and control their power. This big resonance also makes touching it awaken dormant Dragon Gate powers as seen with Shin. For most of the series, Reiki was encased in gold and that functioned as its blade. Not until this casing was shattered by Tetsuhito was Reiki's "true blade" finally recognized. 0 Comments
