Leon's Known History

Leon was the third child of Elector Count Ulrich I, his sister Evanor was the first child, and the second child was a boy that died in birth. It was a devastating blow to Leon's parents for some time before they tried again for more children. When Leon was old enough, he was put into school, learning many subjects like history and mathematics. By the time he was seven, there were no signs he was able to use magic, like his Mother and sister Evanor, so he was not going to be taught how to use magic, and instead he will learn how to use a bow and how to sword fight. He was taught by one of the best knights of the Empire named Markus Kruber, mainly because Leon's family had an immense wealth because their capital, Marienburg, was a port city that was a center of trade for The Empire.

Leon's swordplay was progressing faster than most boys as years pass, but his bowmanship was not particularly the good. By the time he was 13, he becomes a squire for the Prince of Reikland, Karl Franz. Karl Franz's father is the Emperor of the Empire, and to be a squire to Karl, a potential Emperor in years time is a great honor. Leon did not pass up any opportunity to help Karl in anyway to gain Karl's respect.

Three years pass, and not much has happened since Leon became a squire for Karl. Nothing until a great Norscan raiding army landed by sea in a province called Nordland, which is a neighboring province to Leon's own Westerland. Norscans were nothing to be trifled with, they has unimagineable strength compared the the average Human. Leon knew the only way to beat someone bigger than you, is to use your size and wits to your advantage.

Time was of the essence, and Leon was placed into the Empire's Royal Army, along with Karl Franz and his father, Emperor Mattheus of Reikland. The army started in the capital of Reikland, called Altdorf, a massive city and is the current capital of the entire Empire. They marched Northeast from Altdorf to another major city called Middenheim, and then North into the province of Nordland. Every step closer to Nordland, Leon can feel his body become uneasy to his first battle, and it didn't help that it was against a power foe.

It was a cold and overcast afternoon once the two armies met in the later months of Winter. Most of the ground was not covered by snow, only patches here and there. From the snow melting, caused some portions of the field between the two armies to be muddy. Leon was with Karl, with Karl leading a regiment of swordsmen just behind the frontlines which were mostly spearmen. The two armies stared each other down for only a few minutes before the barbaric Norscans started to move their way to the frontlines of the Empire's Royal Army.

Leon felt his uneasiness fade away as the Norscans started to charge to the Empire's lines. Imperial cannons opened fire into the Norscan mass, Leon couldn't help to flinch at the sound of a loud, thundering noise of the new Dwarven technology of that time. It wasn't long until Norscan marauders were in range of the bowmen, and along with the cannonballs cracking through the air at the Chaos army, arrows were whistling with them. Leon couldn't believe the firepower of the Royal Army had, scary even as it seemed the enemy are losing hundreds of troops already before they could even do anything.

Even though the Empire had this new amazing firepower, it didn't even put a dent into the enemy's morale or chance of losing the battle. The barbarians were getting closer and closer, looking even more menacing with their huge stature. They threw themselves into the front lines, some going right through the spears to get to the man or woman holding it. The true battle was on, between good and evil.

Good won that day, not with over a third of the Imperial army being killed in the battlefield, even then, it was a major victory for the Empire. After the battle, once the remaining Norscans got back on their ships, and sailed back to Norsca. Most of the ships were abandoned since they didn't have enough men to bring them all back. Rumors started after the fact that Karl Franz's squire, Leon Adler of Westerland, stood toe to toe with a Chaos Champion, a terrifying warrior that is usually the strongest individual out of an entire army of Chaos warriors. Leon, humble as he is, denied the fact, but gained Karl's respect. The rest is history.
