Nausea wrung in the empty pits of his stomach. It felt like a hurricane compressed in a whirlpool, pulling at the delicate balance of the human body. For whatever reason, his breath escaped him, unfinished love notes slipped past his lips. Wallace felt his eyes blur for a moment, cold blue pulled at his tired legs; muscles screaming to stay afloat. Frigid waters washed over his frame; lungs burning for a breath of air. A deep breath filled the cavern in his chest, only for a rush of liquid to hit his tongue. Confused, the salty soothe tasted dry; a sandstorm lost at sea? He let out a gasp, black blots slowly got bigger in his vision. I can't..-- Arms reached for the light above water, bubbles leaving his maw, like a missed opportunity. The last bit of oxygen left his mouth, the current lulling his body further into the bottom of the sea.
"Wallace!!!"

Nothingness took over, eyelids completely heavy he struggled to move. Was he still drowning?! No. After what seemed like an eternity, digits twitched to the sound of machinery. Aquamarine eyes fluttered open, staring into the bright illuminance. He felt his stomach squirm, hunger pangs while bracing for some sort of hope brought excitement. He slowly turned his head to the side of the room. The chair was empty; she wasn't there. Bitterness stung his vision, blurring all around him. Of course, She wouldn't be. He fell silent, listening to the machines monitor his vitals, though hushed whispers could be heard just outside his room.

"He almost drowned yesterday. I thought Ancients are naturally good swimmers?"

"Of course my son is a good swimmer! I don't know what--"

"Well, just by checking his readings there seemed to be irregular heart activities He was also extremely dehydrated and he struggled with breathing last night--"

"I..-"

"Ma'am. Let me finish, please. These are signs of well... an eating disorder. Has he lost weight rapidly within the last couple of months?"

"Well, he has! But it doesn't explain anything! He eats three meals a day. He cooks for me before I come home-- right before his training with Juan. I just figured that he's finally going out and not locking himself away to his studies! He was a very.... ov--... He struggled with his body image growing up. Oh, Wallace! I'm so sorry, I should have figured it out sooner. My poor boy....!!"

A dainty woman with the sky trapped in her locks elegantly flew over to his bedside. Delicate hands grasped his, warmth radiating from her very being. Her mouth pursed as her bottom lip shook. Tears welled up in her eyes, her gaze never left her son. His own weary eyes fluttered open, staring back into his mothers wide, watery orbs. Even when she was distraught, she looked like a mermaid. Shimmering hair caught the sunlight from the window; as she was reminiscent of the ocean Herself.

His mouth opened, dry from the trauma,

"Mum? Is she here?" His mother let out a sigh, quivering. Her hands stroked the tuffs of hair, almost as to comfort him. She frowned, before taking his hand.

"No. Your sister isn't here. We haven't heard from her since she walked out. I'm hoping that eventually, we'd get something from her. I'm just happy that Wingull left with her, so maybe we will. But she isn't here, sweetie. I'm so sorry. Your father is... still in Lilycove right now. So it's just us. But, don't worry. I'll be here. I won't leave." Wallace laid there, silent. Disappointment flooded his very being, the walls started closing in, as his brittle chest struggled with the very pounding of emotions in his ears.

His sister's words brought a new wave of tears, the venomous words that she angrily whispered at him as she fumbled with the lock before stepping into the moonlight. Angry cerulean pierced into his, her hair blotched with unnatural darkness as she pulled a hood over herself.

"You're always crying. Stop. I can't stand it anymore! You do nothing for yourself. Look at you! You get made fun of because of your weight, right? Stop f***ing eating. All you do is cry and eat. I can't take it anymore. I can't keep looking out for you! I want to get out of Sootopolis. This place isn't for me! It's death. I'm not staying just to take care of you. Go fend for yourself. Learn how to be a man! You're fourteen years old, go learn how to throw a punch. Do something with your life besides holing up at home studying and being a 'good boy', trying to make dad notice us! He won't, okay!! I just... I can't. Wallace. Goodbye."

His sister, the one who shielded him from the world left Sootopolis, never to return to the sleeping city.
