"My sin runs deep."

Broken bones and bruised face, the finest example of everything that goes wrong when it comes to ‘love’. She stood silently behind the tree, her heartbeat pounding in her chest, deafening to her ears. Could he hear it too? No, no, no. This isn’t how it’s supposed to be, this was never how it was supposed to go. I love you baby, you’ll always be mine. Sunflower hues burned at the sense of fresh tears streaming her broken face. The only thing more powerful than love was fear. Shouldn’t it have been the other way around? If you have to ask, fear is the winner. Small hands wiped at her features, leaving behind a dull crimson stain in their path. Blood that was not her own caused a faint smile to embark along her split lips.

Passages inviting and expelling the crisp air around her, she pressed on. The forest showed her no mercy, each twig snapping and screaming out into the still night. Surely he could hear. Surely he knew. Broken earth casted up with each stride she took, only to fall back amongst its brethren, leaving her mark clear as day. Foolish. Carelessness will be the death of you.

You’ll pay. You’re mine or you’re dead.
The hysterical mania that tore through the night was that which she did not recognize. It was her own. You’re mine or you’re dead. Smells were unfamiliar, she did not know the way now. Frantic, her limbs pumped harder, desperate for a way out. The trees were thinning, she could make out the forest’s edge. You’re mine or you’re dead. A choked sob erupted from her chest cavity, she reached out, to what she did not know. The mountain’s abrupt margin betrayed her. You’re mine… A foot came down and was met with nothing. Instinctually, her opposing limb drove her off the side of the precipice. Harsh waters flowed furiously below, inviting her into its unforgiving depths. Her last memory was his face peering over, a snarl on his handsome features.
Or you’re dead.
"My love runs deeper."

"I was missing you
before we
even met."
Perhaps it was the way you pulled the earth from beneath me, or the way you revealed that wings were not needed to fly; perhaps it was the daring in your voice that didn't pull me from the edge, but revel in the knowing that if I went over, you'd catch me in an instant. Like vertigo, pulling me in every single time, I began to crave the sensation of my body drawn to yours, my soul igniting at the promise of your existence.
I kept you tucked in my cheek like a cherry pit; unable or unwilling to let you go. My psych dreamed of a life of risk, and to some extent I obeyed, yet when you came along I knew I had been inadvertently cautious. The innermost workings of my mind betraying me to think that I had lived a life to its fullest. You are the whisper of courage that voids the timidity in my bones. You are the soft touch of kindness that negates the scars on battered flesh. You are the brilliant joy that depletes the darkness that threatens to shadow my soul.
I could not possibly want to know a world without you in it for without you, this earthly dwelling is a mere shell for which I inhabit. You've given me an infinity in my own numbered days, and I will spend every last waking one loving you.
