Who I'd like to meet: Centuries ago, just off the coast of Ireland lived a race of creatures that called both the land and sea their home. The Fiachna were known for peace, even to the point of sacrificing most of the wealth they had even though their lands were rich in silver and jewels. They coexisted with Fae on their island and on the mainland but that peace was shaken by the arrival of the Tuatha De Nannan. The Sidhe were not as peaceful as the Fiachna, wanting the lands they lived on when the people wished to stay under the rule of their own Queen instead of bowing to the Elves. With no standing army, the Queen met with the court, only to agree on the fate less desired.
Her people were pushed into the sea, building on the ocean floor a paradise when they thought they would miss the land they always had. A few decades passed, some snuck back onto land even under the rule of the Sidhe. Duana was born ten years prior to the move into the sea , growing fast as most did on the island, when she took her first trip into the sea she felt more at home than she ever had. When they were set to live out in the sea, she didnโt mind it as her family had. As time passed for her and her people, they flourished beneath the sea and soon coexisted and traded with those on the mainland and islands. As any peace they experienced, it did not last as the Tuatha de Nannan were run out of the land into the magick realm by man.
The Fiachna became solitary, Duana and her family were temple keepers and merchants and she was taught how to head both sides as the only daughter of her family. Around the time she became of age, maturing into her adult state, her people were hit with a sickness that some believed their gods were to blame for and that some blamed man for. The plague brought madness and ailments, some only losing their mind and others losing sight, hearing, limbs or simply passing on at any moment. It made those unaffected, uneasy and angry, some still cried for peace as others cried for vengence on who they believed responsibleโฆthose on the lands above them. Many lives were lost to agression or the sickness. Duana became a temple maiden, witnessing the sickness first hand until she realized her own sight was darkening. Her body gave in, her sight fading away and eyes that were once clear and white as moonlight turned to amber. The temple was the only place where the violence didnโt reach, no one dared even in sickness.She tended the temple with others but after years and years, the blind priestess is the only one of her people left in that land beneath the sea. She doesnt know if others moved on to escape the sickness or violence or if they all fell to it in the end.
