A Perpetual is an individual who was a member of a mutant branch of the human species who possessed seemingly superhuman abilities, the most important of which is immortality. Some are born with their abilities naturally, while others received them through artificial genetic intervention using advanced technology.
However, every Perpetual is known to be effectively immortal, never aging and capable of ultimately healing almost any injury as a result of their extraordinarily rapid and efficient cellular regeneration. It is this capability that is responsible for their name. Perpetuals are known to survive dismemberment, suffocation, decapitation and even directed energy assaults, their bodies always regenerating and even bringing them back to life after clinical death.
Legion of the Damned
Around the late 21st Century, Marcus began to gather up those he felt that the world would no longer miss. Buying a chain of islands from the Philippines, he built a mercenary company known as the Legion of the Damned. Staffed by war criminals, dishonorable discharges, homeless, gang members, political prisoners. Everyone nobody wanted. They would take on missions that no one wanted, assassinations, protection details, war crimes, they were not afraid of the consequences, they were already damned.
That's how you know a mercenary is dead, he stops picking up his paycheck.

How does one endure eternity? Some take it with joy, a chance to explore and experience all there was in life. Some see it as a burden and hate their existence. For Marcus, it is a chance to be free. Born in 255BCE, he was there when Julius Caesar landed on Britain, he was taken prisoner and made to fight in the arenas. When Rome fell, he had won his freedom and went on to be a farmer for a while before growing bored of it, too used to the fighting and bloodshed.
When Europe began to be divided into kingdoms, he offered himself to the lords and began to fight for their armies, building a reputation as undefeated and also as a demon. War after war he fought, and a number of times he had been called and killed for being a warlock, a demon, or even the devil himself. As the year rolled on, he began to spread his range of work, he would eventually find himself working for the British during the American Revolution and for the North during the Civil War.
When World War 2 rolled around, he had been nearly all over the world and seen just about anything, and then the bombs were dropped. Never before had he seen such destruction and he knew that he was going to have to step up his game in the name of war.

That's right, but we don't have to do both replies and stream. We can start out with replies, see how it flows. My preference is sharing writing pieces I do on the side. Sometimes it sparks more ideas.
Sure. Any fantasy or mythical creature is fine. Which reminds me, maybe we could start with the prompt about raining fire, blood and demons? It was in my bulletin from a few days ago.
No problem, we can do either one. Lately I lean more toward writing historical with my OC Afsin. But I'm flexible to add fantasy elements to it. He's an ottoman general so it'd be easy to set something up with a mercenary.
