Originally, he, along with several other Pokemon, were plucked from Viridian Forest by a team of scientists eager to experiment with their new power enhancement gas labeled simply, "R". Months of development as a type of lab Pikachu nearly lead to his insanity until a fateful encounter lead to his escape.

Currently this small Pokèmon is a type of guardian of a woodland area in Kanto far off from most of its human population. Though usually quiet and peaceful, this forest is sometimes prone to poaching from various humans. It is said that not only is this forest home to rare Pokèmon, but also, rumored odd occurrences- with stories about encounters with alternate realities. Because of this, Pikachu keeps a sharp eye out for any human that may walk into his territory. Most of the time this Pikachu is skittish around new humans, and will often deter their attempts at entering the forest with small harmless traps. Though, it is possible to gain his trust.

Pikachu has always been a lone pokemon since it was kidnapped and forced to work for Team Rocket. The only time he's really teamed up with was from a space faring bounty hunter whom rescued him from a labratory when he was freshly evolved as a Pikachu. They had flown together on several missions in order to stop a more powerful entity from destroying the universe. After that mission, the two parted ways. Pikachu left to protect an island, while the bounty hunter went back to her profession.

After Pikachu escaped the labratory with th ehelp of Samus, and aided in saving their universe, Pikachu left to live on an island free from human rule. However peace was soon disturbed. Once again Team Rocket began their attack, attempting to build a base on his island home, just 20 or so miles from the Kanto Mainland. A fierce battle to defend the islands began with the Pokemon being victorious in the end.

As a result, Pikachu was recognized for his efforts in the island's time of need, and was thus granted the role of the official guardian, by a mysterious legendary pokemon. A Title that this Pikachu holds dearly.
