Rose Greybane grew up in the Guylos empire, her family long tied to the military. Her father was a loyal Major in the army, and taught Rose all about zoids and what it meant to be a pilot. Rose admired her father greatly, and dreamed to follow in his footsteps as a zoid pilot to defend the Empire. Then one day, disaster struck.
Rose went to visit her father on the military base, where she often snuck in to play and get in lessons to prepare her for her future of following the family military career, though when she arrived she was unable to find him. As the troops were use to her presence, as she never caused trouble that would put the troops at risk, she didn't feel she needed to hide as she searched for him, until she came upon Prime Minister Prozen. She hid and listened in to him talking to some of his underlings, and learned her father was sent off on a mission. A mission that was neither real nor was he meant to return from. His loyalty to the Zeppelin family made him a liability to Prozens own seeking of power, and his untimely death could be blamed on the Helix Republic.
Rose was stunned, full of rage and sorrow knowing her father would be sent to die, and if someone so high up in the Empire could be so corrupt, she couldn't trust anyone to report it. In a rash decision, she ran back to the hanger bay and hid beneath a tarp covered zoid, a Heldigunner. The zoid was marked as an experimental model, a prototype of an early attempt to create an artificial organoid system attached to the zoid core, which made the Heldigunner more intelligent and somewhat wild than a usual military zoid. Though it did come with risks if pushed too far.
Rose however, not knowing the Heldigunners significance, saw a chance to perhaps do something with the zoid. The two seemed to sense the need for each other, and Rose worked to remove the restraining clamps that kept the Heldigunner in the hanger. Once free, its cockpit opened to allow the girl in so the two could escape together.
years had past, and Rose and Heldigunner took on mercenary jobs, working hard to hone their skills together, and avoiding any Imperial zoids they could. Rose had sworn vengeance against Prozen, and lived as an outlaw from the empire she once called home.
