A whole season had come and gone, the icy bite of winter at last giving way to the warm gentle breeze of spring. Amidst the small port town known as โRivenโ, today marked the day of the mass re-gathering of the crew that sailed on the vessel known as โThe Morrigan.โ They had ended their previous journey at the start of winter here in the town, and had their vessel docked as each man would go about and work all manner of other jobs to raise funds for the next voyage. Each soul that chose to return will be sharpened, more experienced, and eager to leave before permanent roots took place. And just like the previous years, each member of the crew returned without losing a single man yet.
Money was raised, and the ship was cleaned and packed for the next voyage with a simple job to start things off. A delivery to a major city with no real time limit, the a place where a larger job will do doubt be taken on with this one acting as the warm up to regain their sea legs. โHoist up the sails ya sh*tes!! If one comes down during the voyage, Iโm throwing yer arses overboard!!!โ The Captain, John Mason, roared up to his men with a clear warm sense of humor. To which his men up upon the beams thundered back down with equally large smirks spread across their features.
โAye! Ya throw us off, yer lazy ass finally gonna climb up here then!?โ
โOh Iโd pay to see that captain! Ya gonna take a bottle Oโ brandy up with ye?โ
The three laughed with the clear bond of brotherhood between them, the ties that bound them were strong and reinforced with years of trust and loyalty. Mason waved off the two as he continued his chuckle, making his way down the ramp and back onto the docks as more of his men passed with cargo and rope. And in the distance heโd see an all too familiar figure, a tall and broad man with the crimson coat and snowy white hair. Masonโs grin stretched into a smirk as he threw his arms out wide. โVictor! Should have known my first mate would of course return, yet again!โ To which Victor mirrored his gesture, swinging his arms out wide with his own smirk matching the other. โCaptain! Ya lost some weight! During the winter no less. You find a partner you wanted to impress, or did you just lose it all gambling again?โ Victor inquired with sarcasm, meriting another bellowing laugh from Mason.
โAh shut it, ya bastard! Come here!โ Mason yelled, the two embracing one another like genuine brothers. Pulling back a bit, Mason gave the other a pat on the shoulder with a curious look in his eye. โSo, what did ya spend this season as?โ heโd ask, Victor darting his eyes away a moment with a sly yet embarrassed grin. โOh come on! Ya gotta tell!!!โ Heโd implore with another laugh, to which Victor conceded.
โI worked in a small pub, one connected to an inn.โ Heโd answer, meriting a small pause on Mason before he burst into a fit of laughter. โYou!? Working in a pub!? ย Gods man, did ya pass out each night from the smell, ya lightweight!!โ he teased, earning a playful shove from Victor. โSod off, ya drunk!โ heโd yell back, but still helplessly laughing at himself.
The two calmed down finally, allowing that air of professionalism to return a moment. โSo, we setting sail right now with the shipment?โ Victor asked, as Mason gave a small nod with crossed arms, now glancing back at the ship. โAye, but not just yet. Gotta few more things to saddle up and get situated. Hell, maybe even another gig might come up last minute, ya never know.โ Glancing back at Victor, heโd notice that his first mate suddenly seemed distracted. And in truth, he was.
This was modest port town, it was filled with average yet good people. But Victor sensed something very noteworthy, something highly magical in nature. It was odd, because it seemed to be steadily approaching them. โVictor? Ey, you alright?โ Mason asked, snapping Victor back into the conversation. โAh, forgive me. Thought I felt something was off for a second, but pay it no mind. So, what kind of cargo we got this time? Hopefully nothing that will attract a basilisk again, I hope?โ Victor inquired, earning another chuckle from Mason as he then read down a list of some simple trading goods full of wheat, spices, and such. But that inherent magical force Victor could sense was still very present in his mind, and he couldnโt ignore it due to the fact that it seemed to continue its approach.
I am as well! I can already tell that this one will be among my favorites; you also give me that boost in bold confidence on the matter. But thank you for such a compliment! I will do my best to live up to those expectations. ^^ Today is a day off, so Iโm actually going to get it done right now. So do look forward to getting here soon! Hopefully your day is winding down here soon so that you can get some rest. But Iโm glad it was good despite it being busy.
Is the site treating you well so far? Any other promising stories?
Of course! You clearly have a passion for your character and it shows, and that deserves praise. And thank you so much! Trust me, you will learn great deal about him early on, as heโs very open with himself. And the finer detailed secrets will of course be unearthed as trust begins to form.
And I love that idea! It works perfectly and even gives us both control of some other side characters. And Iโll also be able to throw in my own secret twists and turns with a voyage like that in our usual dangerous fantasy world. Iโd love to go ahead and set the scene then! Honestly, we can always add more if we get god ideas down the line, but I think we have the perfect start!
OOC: Don't bother with my profile. I can see that it is rather unappealing lol. I have been gone for a long time, but I am back. For how long? Who knows. Thank you for accepting me though. Are you a new era roleplayer? Which I mean that you like to speak a plot before any roleplaying opening is sent out. Are you an old school roleplayer? Which I mwan that you are willing to go wherever the story goes. Thank you for accepting me by the way.OOC: Don't bother with my profile. I can see that it is rather unappealing lol. Of course, you have a wonderfully crafted character and Iโm dying to know more. And given that both of our characters are driven on curiosity born of their own unique circumstances, I feel like they would get along rather well! But I can sense some humor for sure, and the makings of a great story. Iโm all for winging it, or even just adding things as we go along. But these two look the type to be pulled together by a great calamity, almost like any good JRPG, haha! But perhaps it can start small and ultimately lead to something that keeps them together for a common goal. Victor here is a sailor that often ships goods, trades, and on occasion acts as hired swords if they believe a cause needs help.
Perhaps Victorโs ship was selected to deliver some important goods or magical artifacts to the City of Sceptors? Or perhaps something very important to your worldโs story, and Victorโs crew was selected due to their incredibly good reputation of always getting the job done, no matter the chaotic blunders they get wrapped up in. Iโd love to sort of combine our worlds into one, because my own in so expansive that there is room for nearly anything in it, including a large segment of the world that is dedicated to a sci-fi/Magitech-like country. And being people from all over the world, I imagine Lieselotteโs curiosity may want to meet them?
Let me know what you think! And my holiday weekend was well! Hope yours was the same, despite the busyness! ย
Greeting, Lieselotte. And thank you so much for accepting the addition. I have to say that I already adore your character here, and Iโd love to get a story going with you! I can already see them being the oddballs of any fantasy party they end up in, and I just know we could make a grand story between us. But no rush on getting back to me, trust me when I say that Iโm super patient. But all the same, I very much look forward to when you do. Hope all is well, and thank you again!
