Mai Shiranui is one of the most skilled Kunoichi the World has ever seen, current Grandmaster of the Shiranui-Ryu and Koppo-Ken styles as well as their rightful heir by bloodline. Rather than a Clan, the Shiranui have always been a very reduced elite group, often Shiranui family members only, who have been fighting evil Youkai since andcient times. She's been trained since she was just a child by her grandfather, the legendary Hanzo Shiranui, as well as the "Demon of Martial Arts", Jubei Yamada. Not only Mai matches the might and skill of generations prior to hers thanks to her training, but thanks to her natural talents she's perhaps the most skilled Shiranui to even hold the Grandmaster mantle...and the most beautiful too.
Her alluring beauty allied with her countless Kunoichi charming skills are already a bomb to deal with, but Mai is no mere charmer. Her Shiranui blood makes her able to use Pirokinesis with ease, embedding her attacks with powerful flames whenever she sees fit, and even causing brutal explosions with it. Her legendary strength, reflexes and stealth abilities as a Ninja only complete her as a formidable warrior, a true prodigy able to outmaneuver almost any adversary, human or not. An Elite among Elites, and a name everyone who follows the way of the shadows knows well, as well as the beautiful yet deadly dance the Shiranui-Ryu style represents, and one of the pillars of the way of the Ninja. But none of those fact ever got to Mai's head. Her upbringing made her a temperamental and confident young woman, but also well educated, humble, and highly wise and respectful about the traditional Japanese lifestlye...even though she enjoys stepping out of it from time to time and hace fun like any other normal girl her age. She despises being treated better than others, and thinks of her title and skills as tools to help and protect others, not as bragging rights. Of course Mai aknowledges her own beauty, and makes use of it quite often, but she's not particularly arrogant about it past just an innocent playful point. She's a cheerful and fun loving energetic girl, approachable by all, no matter their strength or status.
While Mai has taken and still takes part in the famous King of Fighters tournaments, she mostly uses them to find out about any evils that might be afoot with more ease...for her true job is that of an evil-purging Ninja. Human or not, from this World or beyond it, a Shiranui's job is to face and stop any evil whenever it shows its ugly face.
But that doesn't mean she can't have some fun in the meantime, right?
