Zairin of Zalts was formerly a captured prisoner of a town once conquered by Digald. However his tenacity and competence soon gain favor with this expansionist Empire, and he was soon put to the test, as did all citizens as the bulk of the Digald Empire's forces were conscripted from captured cities and towns.
The test proved he was more than just a capable warrior. He was a prodigy, and soon he would rise through the ranks as an elite soldier. While most soldiers of the Digald Empire were either officers, stormtroopers, or rode BioRaptors, Zairin was privy to the Bio MegaRaptor, an experimental Zoid that held advanced armor, weapons, and maneuverability. With this Zoid as his counterpart, he soon became a feared, relentless officer. In time, he would also befriend the leader of the Digald Empire, General Jiin, whom personally promoted him.
During the War, Zairin was sent to investigate other towns whom had a vital resource known as Reggel, which was a fuel produced by special trees. he found one such town, and in the following battle accidentally struck the tree, obliterating it in the process. A chain of events followed, as he became obsessed with a certain Zoid pilot from that village, Ruuji and would chase him around the ends of Planet Zi to find and destroy him. However midway through his quest, he was later replaced by a ruthless killing machine, Major Georg under General Jiin's direct command.
But, this didn't fully stop Zairin form challenging Ruuhi or searching for him. At least not at first. He wanted to prove himself to Jiin, up until his return to hometown of Zalts. It was here did he learn the full evil of the Digald Empire. Those conscripted of service were stripped of their life energy which was used to power BioZoid cybernetic pilots- with the resulting pilot loosing their life entirely. It turned out that his long time friend, General Jiin only saw Zairin as a tool. An asset to bring his plans for domination to fruition.
After he had learned of this treachery, Zairin broke into open rebellion against Jiin, whom had now gone mad with power~ self crowning himself as an Emperor and a God. He would even go as far as seek out Ruuji to join their resistance and offer valuable intel and his own combat skills in the final battle.
