Prolouge
Hinata didn't have a place to belong, a broken home, bullying at school, no matter where he looked he saw nothing as home, he even knew what happened to heroes when one day during a hold up at a convenience store, his only friend was shot and killed trying to stop the robber.
Life did not become easier for the poor boy as by the time he was seventeen when he returned home one day, his alcoholic father beat him to death. He wished so badly to escape that life that he was content with dying... But that was not his destined end.
No Type Mage Arc
Hinata Satou is reincarnated as Masato in the world of Vensatia, his body feels the pain of death still fresh in his mind. His parents Luca and Alecia Anderic do their best to raise him with all the love and care he never felt in life. He didn't know how to respond to this kindness, he only ever called these new parents by their names yet they loved him regardless.
When he came of age Administrator spoke to him and he was forced to choose a class, to which he chose Mage. From there he was granted access to the status and inventory menus and then was thrust out into the world against his will by Administrator. So he began wandering as a solo Mage he was likely to get killed yet he survived and thrived, raising in levels gaining skills and powers until one day something changed his life forever.
Albino Devil Arc
He became level 50, once that happened a demon appeared before him, a Dark Soul Person, one similar to other Soul People yet far stronger than anyone could have anticipated. In the struggle for his life this Dark Soul Person brought destruction and death to the city they were in, completely decimating everyone who once lived there.
Masato was the only survivor, soaked in the blood of all of the innocent people who once called this city home he unlocked a magic type that was classified as unique. Hellflame Magic, flames black as the abyss and hot enough to rend even the soul to ashes, he managed to kill his enemy at great sacrifice. The city is gone and he alone stands in the ruins, he fears the responsibility that comes with his newfound power so he limits his powers, creating his suppression cloak to appear as just a weak Mage.
He is finally free to return home so he does, now nineteen at this point he makes it his duty to return to his home village whenever he can. He doesn't want to be around here when another Dark Soul Person appears. Lucky for him he only has to defend the people of his village from the occasional band of bandits, in this he is ruthless to bandits who happen to be Soul People, to see people from Earth treat the Natural People like NPCs in a game he cannot forgive them. He kills those Soul People without hesitation by mind controlling them to stand down, from there he shoves his fingers in their mouths and roasts them from the inside out with his Black Hellflame.
He becomes jaded with life, adopting a deadpan expression at all times, feeling nothing with life. Only few things help him cope with all his trauma and pain, his biggest vice being his drinking. Numbing the pain of living with alcohol he didn't see the irony in it being the same reason he was murdered in his previous life. Yet one day through mistake and happenstance he forgoes the bottle, quitting his bad habit as well as deciding to change his outlook on life.
Mystic Blade Arc
He decides to turn his life around, giving himself a good smack he forges himself a sword made of a special Magic Steel (Magi-Steel) which allows him to reinforce it with his spells. With some very informal training and remembering his past life studying kendo for a year he creates new clothes for himself, dressing as a Hero clad in white with sword in one hand and magic in the other. Now smiling though forced and shallow he sees as others open up to him and he continues to fight for the sake of others.
His fight continues for a few years until he becomes 21 that is when one of his greatest regrets come to pass. He fought hard and valiantly as much as he could, his sword was heavy his heart was in pain, despite his best efforts his parents Luca and Alecia are killed because he wasn't fast enough. Finally he manages to get to their side but he cannot heal them in time. "Mom... Dad no... Please don't leave me..." They smile at him one last time saying how much they love him and how proud of him they are. His hearing becomes muddled to the point that all he can hear are his own grief-stricken cries into the heavens.
He buries his parents on a hill overlooking their old home. Though the villagers offer sympathy he doesn't want it. He feels as though he's failed mindlessly wandering not knowing where he is going or what to do next, when his senses return to him he finds himself deep in a forest. Taking one look at his blade he curses himself before stabbing it into a tree where he abandons being a hero, yet he does once again pick up his staff.
Great Sage Arc
Wandering once more as a Mage Masato becomes a vagabond, traversing the varied lands of Vensatia again. Never stopping in one location for long he truly no longer has a home, even if technically he does own his old childhood home he scarcely visits anymore. Through his travels he continues to level and raise his power, wearing a cloak that camouflages his magical aura so he cannot be tracked by any remaining enemies he migh have.
From aiding mountain villages in mining for gold, to learning to fish in fishermen villages, his skills spread out to various places. In one adventure he lent his alchemical tools to a novice who ended up causing it to snow pink for a while. In another he joined a battle tournament just for the hell of it, accidentally winning and being forced into a engagement with a Princess, he did manage to get out of it yet now he has to do missions for the princess whenever she calls. In a particularly dangerous adventure he finds a Demon Mask which grants him immense power at the cost of slowly losing himself to a violent and manic personality that he says is his old Albino Devil self just given more strength.
In this leg of his life he meets many new allies and friends, learning to smile and open up once more. From Morris a fellow tormented soul who he became bond brothers with, to Malak a man from a future of Earth who while he doesn't necessarily get along with he appreciates his company regardless. He even formed a pact with Nagao Kagetora a Heroic Spirit that he gets bugged by but still welcomes her company. Ramlethal, Lilith Aensland, Beatrice Pendragon, Ishtar, Cay. He finds himself blessed to call these people friends. They would even be the ones to bring him back to his senses when his Demon Mask took over.
Battle Soul Arc
Now at the age of 25 (technically having lived 37 years if his previous life is taken into account) Masato finds himself a fairly changed man, while the corruption of his Demon Mask has left it's mark on him in the way of facial scars a black streak of hair and his right eye gaining new colors, he doesn't regret the life he's lived, now choosing to move on from his regret and live a new life.
With his friends in his mind and his new life awaiting he resolves to be a Hero proper and that life starts today.
