Of the many survivors and refugees from planet Zi was a man by the name of Frank Land. He was a solitary, and strict individual whom dedicated his life to science and research, much like his counterpart- Doctor Borman. But unlike Borman's view on actually forming a bond with natire and respecting the life it brings, Dr. Land saw only power. He believed that through power humans had a better chance for survival and would go to boost the full potential of Zi's fauna, the Zoids.
Land was gifted with Zoid genes, symbiotic DNA that is sometimes compatible with integrating and fuzing with human DNA. In turn this gave him incredible power and raw strength, with the added ability of surviving the rigors of Zoid riding with ease. And with his genes he is even said to be able to communicate with Zoids o a level nearly no human ever has had.
But planet Zi was on the verge of being destroyed, in a final decision, those of Zi, including Dr. Land boarded colossal sleeper shire and left the star system before it was too late. A fleet of ships set for autopilot bound for their home world; planet Earth. The original goal, was to rebuild Earth, as it was completely rendered inhospitable eons earlier. A method the science community called Zi-Forming, similar to terraforming, Zi-Forming was originally intended to revitalize Earth's atmosphere, create fresh water, and fertilize soil to allow plants and animals to thrive again, and the fauna they brought with them to co-exist ad well, for those of Zi brought Zoids on their long journey. But, not everyone saw the Zi-Forming cube as a way to bring life and prosperity. Some saw tha mechanical eonder as a superweapon.. a mutiny happened aboard the fleet, and several ships were lost, including a Zoid arc and the Zi-forming cube which reached Earth thousands of years prior and colony ships would wind up nearly a hundred years after that, leaving the test of the fleet's true fate to be unknown.
This event, which began in the 21st century became known as the Zoid Crisis. A cataclysm which destroyed Earth in a matter of days. But, all wasn't lost. Nearly a century later, Doctor Land awoke to find himself on a partially reformed Earth which was now consumed in war. Two factions regained national control over the planet after the crisis, those being the potential descendants of both the guylos Empire and Helic Republic. Doctor Land saw opportunity where the world saw conflict. Both nations wished for the first generation to develop Zoids and weapons fir the war wffort, and fir a while, Land favored the Republic. He would ultimately betray them by siding for the Empire as he viewed their vast nation to have the right capital to combine with his knowledge and resourcefulness. For he wished to develop and revive the ultimate Zoids such as the Geno Spino. A Zoid capable of wiping out a third of the Earth in a single night.
