Born to a humble, rustic village known as the Wind Colony, Maria Flyheight was a well known, friendly woman. She worked mostly at home manufacturing goods and farming stored power in specialized cells generated by wind collectors, which were then used for local trade to other colonies that dotted along side the Western Continent.
Though peaceful, and simple, Maria's life was one full of loss, and hardship before ever reaching to this point. For much of her life, she and the rest of the Flyheight family lived in a time where constant war ravaged the world. For one, Mrs. Flyheight, her mother had gone missing early on in her life. And each day brought in a new battle, new loss in life, and more hardships to overcome. Whether it was burying the dead, or gathering rations and supplies. During the war between the Republic and Empire, everyone had to pitch in. And the Flyheight household was no exception. For her father, Dan Flyheight was a member of the Republic's Army, and a ranking major. Each day of his life in this dark time was filled with worry of battlefield news. And on one day, she would receive the news she feared the most. Dan's military unit had encountered a precious life form which both sides coveted, as just one of these symbiotic creatures could easily tip the scale of the war in their favor. And as a result, both sides would fight brutally for control of one such beast.
As the Major and his crew was studying this creature, known as an Organoid, Dan's unit soon fell under siege to a superior force of Imperial Soldiers, under the direct command of Commander Gunther Prozen~ a strategical mastermind for the Empire. The Republic was given the option to surrender the Organoid in exchange for their lives, however Dan did not yield. He knew his own power was not enough to stop Prozen, so he set his core to overload, and rammed it straight into the front line, which caused a catastrophic explosion, wiping out the advanced assault team, and buying the Republic time to flee.
Maria's father was soon reported KIA and was buried at his home in Wind Colony, leaving the house to Maria, and her younger brother, Van Flyheight. Though her young brother's adventurous spirit, would soon cause him to leave the house in search for his own destiny as a Zoid pilot. Maria on the other hand stayed behind, only to be captured by a roaming band of bandits, in search for a recently awakened Organoid. The same one Van broke from stasis just hours ago. Unlike her brother, Maria was not much of a fighter, and soon fell to their grasp, and used as both a hostage, and as bait to draw Van back, and steal his newly acquired Organoid. However, the plan failed, and Maria was soon released back into her brother's care.
Maria continued to live out her life at the Wind Colony, where she kept the house cozy and tidy, while later welcoming back Van for a visit a few years after he had left. But, once more she fell under attack. This time by another Organoid. Thanks to Van's quick response, this time, she was in little danger and saved only minutes later.
