Momo lived in the first sector of the Soul Socity alongside Toshiro Hitsugaya and his grandmother. Older than Toshiro, she often took care of him as one would a child. When she started the Academy for Soul Reapers, she aspired to be one of the greatest and often would continue to visit Toshiro and his grandmother on her breaks. She befriended Kira and Renji at the Academy and the three were often inseparable. Her idol was Aizen Sosuke, a Captain of the Soul Society that saved the three from a Hollow attack. This would later prove to lead to her near death at his hands.
Momo is a kind-hearted Shinigami who likes to spend time at the library, Ikebana Club with Captain Unohana, Isane and Rangiku- and spending time in the barracks of Captain Hitsugaya. After she attacked her comrades when influenced by the falsehoods of Aizen, she became more apologetic and hard on herself. She was at odds with her own Zanpakutō, something shown when Muramasa turned Tobiume against her- but they've now grown close once more and Tobiume even helps boost Momo in confidence alongside Captain Hirako.
