Maria is a playable character in the Final Fantasy franchise! Specifically Final Fantasy 2.
She is the younger sister of the character Leon, and Firion’s surrogate sister, in turn.
Along with her brother and two friends, she is run out of her hometown of Flynn when the Empire invades it and sends everyone into hiding. Ultimately, she and the others are chased into the woods and their backs are against the wall.
The party fight the horse-riding Empire soldiers, but are no match for their strength and are defeated one by one. They later awake at the Rebel’s Hideout, healed by the White Wizard Minwu, but noting Leon isn’t among their numbers.
Personality: Maria is kind and gentle, with Final Fantasy Brave Exvius further emphasizing this with a unit called ‘Thoughtful Sister Maria’.
She is empathetic as well as sympathetic, and a longer of tranquility and prosperity. She dislikes the war and death that surrounds her, but fights for the dreams of a better tomorrow.
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius describes her as exuding a kindly confidence while being lonely at heart.
Maria’s role varies from spin-off to spin-off.
In Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Maria was classified as a black mage and specialized in black magic spells.
In Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Maria takes the role of a white mage and has an array of healing and support spells, as well as hybrid attacks in which she can attack and restore HP. Her limit burst is a powerful magic attack that deals damage to enemies and heals the party, while also granting them auto-revive.
In Final Fantasy 2, she is highly customizable and her build is left up to the player. She can be either a black mage or a white mage. Or even a red mage (a jack of all trades with both black magic and white magic).
I have yet to decide on what role I’ll give her!
But I’m leaning to more if a red mage.
