History A former disciple of the mostly eradicated Silver Fox clan, Lai Bao was sold to a brothel when he was thirteen after being mistaken for a girl. The familial members of his clan, of which he was one, were known for their beauty and looks - both male and female and everything in between - so his captor's confusion was understandable.
He worked at the brothel for years and took measures to keep his 'fellow ladies,' the madam, and his clients from figuring out that he wasn't a young miss, himself. Despite his appearance, he wasn't one of the most-visited or most-requested due to the services he is willing to perform not being a "complete package." He would get his clients drunk... And then they would complain of a splitting headache come morning, and would never request him again.
In his off time he practiced the disciplines he was taught as a young boy in secret. The plan was to, of course, seek revenge one day, in the future, and to try and restore his clan. He snuck away from the brothel several nights before he turned nineteen and he has been on the move ever since, hunting down those responsible for his clan's destruction.
Or trying to, at the very least. He had no formal training after the age of thirteen; he needs a lot of work. It doesn't help that his fox form is... Small.
Little Things Lai Bao stole a sword from a man visiting the brothel back when he was thirteen and he kept that sword hidden away in the clearing he snuck off to when he wanted to practice his techniques. He still uses that sword.
The other brothel workers tended to refer to him as Baobao. He is glad to have left that behind.
He made little figurines of the other brothel workers when he had free time but could not sneak away to the forest clearing that he went out to practice in. He left them behind, but he still makes little figurines whenever he has nothing else to do.
The clan's blood-inherited technique allows the user to shapeshift into a silver fox.

Lai Bao's fox form is a little smaller than the average fox. Puppy-sized. Do hold gently like hamburger.
He can shapeshift part-way to various degrees. Fluffy eared fox boy? Sure. Something close to a furry...? Sure.
The clan's eradication was due to a rumor of them actually being shapeshifting fox demons in the guise of humans seeking to undermine humanity and destabilize other, bigger clans. Lai Bao is aware of this.
The clan's origin story was that the clan's progenitor defeated and consumed the flesh of a huyao, gaining the hereditary blessing of the ability to shapeshift into a silver fox, but also the curse of a horrible end. He was burned to death by his own sons, and his sons died terribly and painfully, too - and so on down the line. Every familial member of the clan has met a horrible end be it by murder, madness, or disease.
