In a ravaged world of suppressed technology and powerful fiends, Rikku went from being an average salvage captain to being a fully fledged guardian of one of the most prominent heroes of their time.
Life for this young bold adventurer was not always easy. Her mother was killed in a machine accident while she was young, leaving her sibling name Brother, and her father, Cid. A member of the Al Bhed people, Rikku and her kin were shunned by society for their love of ancient technology. Devices which were feated and hated, for most of the world believed that such luxuries brought about the calamity known as Sin. A massive nigh indestructable beast hellbent on wiping out civilizations. With only a chosen few mages known as summoners to stall his inevitable attacks. People looked to their ancestors, civilizations whom basked in luxurious wealth, brutal wars, and lazed existances while their technology did the work- but when Sin attacked, their world collapsed. And as a result, people began to blame those with advanced technology.
But the Al Bhed were different. With a population of only ten percent of Spira, these outsiders scoured the various lands in search for ancient treasures. Machines, or Machima as they call it, in order to better their lives. And Rikku, like her kin operated on a vessel of one such mission. She along with a band of others searched the deep oceans of the world in order to find the ultimate prize. A fully intact airship.
One night, their luck changed for the better, as Rikku encountered a young male named Tidus, while exploring a set of submerged ruins. Despite arguements from her crew, she took him in, in exchange for help. For they had discovered the very airship they needed deep in a sunken airfield. But before operations could begin, Rikku and her ship was attacked by Sin, and she was forced to retreat, while being separated from their new friend.
Eventually, Rikku would reunite with Tidus back on the mainland~ only at first as a hostile. She however, surrendered after a brief fight, and eventually joined Tidus and his band of friends including a Summoner, Lady Yuna, on her pilgrimage to defeat Sin. The Summoner in question, actually is related to her as they are cousins. And surpringly, she ends up becoming Yuna's final guardian. From then on, Rikku and Yuna travel together across Spira to earn the blessings of her summons, uncover a conspiracy, and eventually discover a way to not only stall Sin, but to destroy the fiend once and for all, all the while keeping Yuna safe from her inevitable self sacrifice.
Even after the "Eternal Calm" begins, the two would still continue on to travel together, now as Sphere hunters; A team they call, the Gullwings. This new hobby and profession is now dedicated to find information stored in special spheres, which help shed light on Spira's long lost civilizations. But, while this regards as a true goal for the Gullwings; Yuna joins as an effort to find a long lost partner- And Rikku excitedly joins along for the ride.
Rikku's personality is bubbly, light hearted, and incredibly kind. She has a huge heart for those in need, and will most certainly be there for her friends. Though, her zany attitude and hyper tendencies often cause her group to get in trouble, it is still within good intent, and she will always try to write her wrongs.
