INFO
Name: Kaname
Age: 24 y/o
Sex: Female
Height: 5'2
Orientation: Bisexual
Kaname is, without a better way of putting it, stubborn and headstrong. Often sporting a lackadaisical demeanor, it typically feels as though she doesn't take situations seriously even when she should.
She tends speaks her mind without any filters, which can land her in all sorts of trouble around the city. Despite this, it has also allowed her some level of respect among certain people, as Shinkoumi isn't exactly a place known for the soft-spoken or soft-hearted. Revealing too much weakness will get one manipulated, something Kaname knows quite well by now.
This has not stopped her from her mouthy, rash, but lax nature, however.
BIO
Kaname was born and raised in the casino resort city of Shinkoumi, never truly being familiar with how things worked on the mainland. The yakuza group known as the Takasatogumi had always run things in the city, and she had been raised with the notion that nothing in the city was sacred, and it was better in Shinkoumi than the mainland, itself.
This wasn't entirely without merit, as by this point, the global economy had begun to suffer terribly, and many people fled the mainland to try and get rich quick through Shinkoumi's many casinos. Not everything had fully fallen apart in Shinkoumi.
Kaname's own parents tripped into the trap of this notion, having moved to Shinkoumi for the same purpose. It wasn't long after that Kaname's mother gave birth to her daughter. Needless to say, both her parents struggled for money even in the unforgiving city of Shinkoumi, for all its bright lights and activity. As such, Kaname, during her young childhood, was sold off by them to receive a fancy sum of money for their "sacrifice".
Kaname, however, was lucky enough to be bought by someone who actually wanted to care for her. He effectively became something of her new father. It wasn't until some years later that she learned he was a part of the Takasatogumi, but this never changed her opinion of him.
Dating from her childhood into adulthood, Kaname had a love for singing. Her "adoptive" father was supportive of her hobby, and even enrolled her in singing classes to keep it alive. In his mind, if Kaname could find a solid foothold in the city by making money off her voice, she might have a fighting chance to survive. He was an aging man, and he was only a minor member of the yakuza -- he wasn't particularly wealthy, so there wasn't a whole lot he could leave behind for Kaname to support herself with.
Sure enough, once Kaname hit about 20 years old, her father passed away. An inheritance was left to her, including their house, and Kaname realized she needed to do more than just rely on what money was left to her.
She started to spend a lot of time in the red light portion of the city where all the clubs were, and would try to get singing gigs at them. At times they would work out, other times she got rejected in favor of someone more familiar with the club scene.
At one point, Kaname obtained a gig at a fundraising event in the park, having had to really argue her case for it. It wasn't a paid ordeal, but if she could get more attention and exposure, maybe she could catch the eye of someone willing to fund her musical endeavors.
Her money was running out, and finding work in Shinkoumi, while not impossible, was becoming more difficult for someone with no marketable skills. Working street corners didn't quite appeal to her.
Fortunately, or perhaps on some level unfortunately, Kaname had been noticed by someone at the event. A man by the name of Masami Toono, a high ranking member of the Takasatogumi. She was approached by him, he having thought she had potential. A stone that could be polished into a nice shine, as he had put it to her. Once he learned she was raised by a lesser ranking member in the Takasatogumi, Toono latched onto this as a further manipulation tactic to draw Kaname in. Needless to say, it worked, and the young woman got into a contract with Toono.
He would book various events in his casinos and hotel, in the bigger clubs, and any other popular venue. Despite how great this felt for Kaname, she knew that this meant she would effectively become something of a prancing pony, having to practice, perform, and do whatever the Takasatogumi wanted of her.
However, this didn't bother her as much as maybe it should have. For the first time, Kaname was making damn good money, and was getting more exposure than ever. Her debt to the yakuza only required her to perform when she was bid to for the most part.
In addition to this, she has often been used to gather information where needed. If her music is particularly well-liked by someone of interest to the Takasatogumi, she, at times, might be sent in to "cozy up" for information.
OOC
1. While the Slow Damage setting was used for Kaname's background and location, she fits in with most modern day sorts of settings (fantasy or realistic). I do like to flock towards ones that are more dark/mature in nature. She's not constrained to the story I have set above! I can easily alter her to better fit a different storyline! We can discuss it.
2. Kinda selective at times.
3. Please be mostly literate. I'm not picky on grammar, spelling, and punctuation, but I won't bother with chatspeak in an RP. Sorry.
4. I do prefer to discuss an RP first! Please don't toss me a random starter, as a lot of the time they often have absolutely nothing to do with what my muse fits in best with. So please, let's talk first to establish how we should start things off.
5. I love to talk OOC and have semi-IC chit-chat, and I certainly don't mind making friends. Discord, however, is a case-by-case basis. It's reserved for those I've been RPing with for a bit first.
6. I'm a very patient person. RP burnout or IRL stuff happens to the best of us, but if our RP ever starts to bore you or you're just not vibing with it anymore, just let me know. There won't be any hard feelings or questions asked, I just like the honesty.
