Maiyumi seems carefree and laid-back most of the time. She does not get angered or emotional unless she is threatened first. She is a soft-hearted person who cares a lot about others, especially children and mother's who have had a hard time with them. She runs a clinic with her best friend in Yugakure no Satou where she studies medicine because she likes to help people. She is a kunoichi of Konohagakure but got leave to go to other lands in search of new and improved medicine rather than medieval methods of self-medication and raw drugs as aphrodisiacs.
Some of her findings in Yugakure is the Star-Plant that heals any wound in an instant and has a mysterious glow forming around it which she wears on the side of her head. It is a dried out part of the plant but still a reminder of the success that she brought to the medicinal side of the shinobi world. In the shinobi world, Maiyumi is a member of the infamous Senju clan and is distantly related to the Uzumaki and Uchiha clans that are also noble and powerful in their own right.

General Knowledge:
Shinobi rules.
Strengthen their minds, bodies and recieve special lectures from veteran shinobi.
They are taken through the handling of ninja weapons and tools, like shuriken and kunai, learning how to throw and weild them through target practice, as well as instructed on the basics of trap-setting.
Academy students are also taught about chakra and how to use it, hand seals. Shinobi classes can be broken down into the basic levels of:
Taijutsu: classes serve as the Ninja Academy's equivalent of physical education in school. In taijutsu classes, students are engaged in physical activities to help train their bodies and develop their stamina. Sparring is also common.
Ninjutsu: Classes provide the bulk of what potential ninja learn at the Academy. Students are taught about chakra, how to manipulate it, and how to use hand seals to learn different techniques such as the Transformation Technique, and the Clone Technique (required to produce at least 3 complete copies of themselves to pass the graduation exam into genin).
Genjutsu: classes are focused less on how to create illusions and momre on how they function. Students are taught how to determine if they are trapped within a genjutsu, and how to release themselves from genjutsu which becomes useful in future situations against other opponents and other enemies.
Other: Girls must attend kunoichi classes, where they are taught about other cultures and how skills such as flower arranging will help them to blend in during an infiltration mission and sometimes to create either medicine or poison to help or kill their friends and enemies
GRADUATION:
The academy consists of taking a written and a practical exam, administrated by a chunin instructor, to earn enough marks to pass. Upon graduation, students receive a forehead protector , proof of their achievement. Graduating students are then separated into sqads of 3 genin and assigned to a Jonin -sensei to further their studies and shinobi practice. The members are determined by their overall factors too create a well-balanced team.
To this point, they will be tested again by their Jonin teacher to see whether they would be able to handle the demands that will be made of them as ninja (i.e. the dynamics of teamwork). Sanin and the members of team 7 were given the "bell test" to see if they could make to cut: unknown if the rest of the would be teams in Konoha would be using the same kind of test.
While Kakashi thinks there is a 66% chance of failure, since only 9 of the 27 given graduates of his time of testing would be allowed to pass this secondary test.
Students who don't pass the initial graduation tests or who are failed by their jonin-sensei, may either be sent back to the Academy or if their jonin believes them to be unsatisfactory, they can be dropped from the program completely.
