What is a lie and what is true?
Many questions.... just what is his true story?
What is the truth about Gao? Official channels report him to be an engineer turned slaver who betrayed the federation and stole one of the top of the line ships with a new weapons system. Reports are out that he attacked an underdeveloped planet kidnapping several denizens forcing them into servitude after leaving several towns within the planet decimated. The casualties were unknown, but investigators confirmed a conflict between the ruling party of the area were all killed during Gao's assault on their castle. Multiple laser rifles were found within the basement of the castle adding the charge of weapons trafficking to the former federal engineer. Unfortunately a catastrophic network wide infection caused any and all images and references to Gao's appearance, home world, and contacts within the federation to be wiped. All that remained was the name Gao Endgame, weight, and grades from the academy.
According to the people of the village, his interference with the royals led to their lives improving greatly and they no longer had to worry about "swords of light" striking anyone down who dared to speak up about conditions. The people were reluctant to ask Gao for assistance until a scantily clad female travelling with him told him to help. Another breaker of the underdeveloped treaty or was she using Gao who was already wanted for her own goals? At the time there were no reports of such a woman fitting the description given in any records within the federation database or the Krauser database.
The description of the woman aligned with the report which came in from a survey team where he reportedly purchased her to stay her execution after she bit off a noble's arm. Those who witnessed the fight remarked how the techniques he was using were thought to be lost for millennia as no one has seen them since an ancient battles against the monster horde and their god. They were more amazed with his ability to use such ancient and lost techniques than the fact that after he and the girl finished fighting, he did not attempt to harm her for lashing out, but carried her cradled in his arms. Those interviewed recounted him assisting the farmers prepare their fields and guarding the village who took him in when he was learning about the area, including the noble's retaliatory attack on the village for Gao "robbing" him of vengeance against the mutt who took his arm.
What is known about the female from the first report detailing her is she's some kind of wolf-being with loyalty to Gao and apparent unwavering obedience. Was there a rune carved into her to compel her into obeying any command he issued her? What the investigators were unaware of was the dishonesty from those interviewed about Gao and this wolf girl. They fed lies about her features and appearance to them as they didn't trust they had anything good intended for the traveler after they were asked to detail the wolf when all questions before were solely around Gao and what he was doing in and around the village. That was the adults, the children gave more information, but left the investigators puzzled. She obeyed him, but also bit and struck him while referring to him as master. These children must've seen something else and confused it with that. Going off that assumption, another item was added to the long list of things they wanted him to answer for.
