About me: Alphinaud Leveilleur is a character in Final Fantasy XIV. He and his younger twin sister, Alisaie, are the grandchildren of Louisoix Leveilleur and the children of Fourchenault and Ameliance Leveilleur. Alphinaud serves as a member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn in the later portions of A Realm Reborn and is one of the Warrior of Light's main companions throughout the events of subsequent expansions.
Alphinaud is a self-assured young man, calm and mature for his age. He shows more interest in intervening in Eorzean events than his sister, who prefers to watch history unfold from the shadow. Charismatic and diplomatic, he finds it easy to gain the Eorzean Alliance leaders' trust, partly thanks to his grandfather's credit. Alphinaud has a big ego, and often clashes with other nations' leaders about their ideals. Alphinaud listens and partakes in gossip. Alphinaud is arguably the most politically savvy Scion, or at the very least the most interested in engaging in politics. His skill at political negotiations have been useful in advancing the Scions' agenda.
Initially Alphinaud participates in Eorzea's affairs with his own agenda: to discover what happened to his grandfather and finish what he started to test his potential and prove himself. As he spends more time with the Scions, he comes understand why his grandfather sacrificed so much for the realm, and resolves to follow in his footsteps. Compared to his sister, Alphinaud is more level-headed and can quickly get over the shock of unexpected events and reformulate his strategies. He is more selective in his diplomatic battles, recognizing that after his father disowned him and Alisaie, any further engagement would worsen the situation.
Alphinaud is not invulnerable to negative feelings, as he regrets his mistakes and overconfidence. He gets flustered whenever Krile or Alisaie threaten to regale embarrassing details from his earlier days in the Studium in front of the Warrior of Light. Alphinaud is annoyed and embarrassed for being mistaken for his sister, or a girl in general. Despite his differences with his sister, Alphinaud deeply cares about his twin and dreads losing her. He does not carry the loss or permanent injury of his comrades well, and his colleagues often have to help lift his spirits in such situations.
In Heavensward, Alphinaud comes to terms with the Crystal Braves' betrayal and of his own naivete and haughtiness, maturing during his time in Ishgard. Upon reestablishing the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, his leadership qualities come to light as its remaining members name him the guild's de facto leader, which he humbly accepts.
Though good-natured and welcoming, Alphinaud can hold a grudge if someone betrays his trust for selfish desires or harms his friends. He matures into a capable leader and crafts the plan to liberate Doma from Garlean rule, and offers to go to Garlemald as a diplomat following the successful prisoner exchange. Despite his maturity, Alphinaud has moments of being impudent as he cannot control his laughter at Gosetsu Daito being tended to by an amnesiac Yotsuyu, or with Alisaie's lackluster clay art piece. Possibly due to being raised in an affluent household, Alphinaud lacks a good sense for money and is naive in market dealings; for example, he offers to buy a Samurai sword, using the Scions' money, without checking the listed price and not knowing how expensive it truly was until some time after the purchase. However, he quickly learns from his mistake, and makes sure Ala Mhigo's Saltery reconstruction is funded as much as possible by the Ala Mhigans, wanting to reduce, if not eliminate, Lolorito's influence over the project by reducing the financial stake the Monetarist has in the project.
