- While Sun is honored and excited being the First Alolan Champion knowing the title has pitted him against the very Best of the Best to overcome adversity with his pokemon, he has since become quite burdened by the title. His freedom feels to have been shackled and he knows at anytime he will be called not merely to defend the honor of the strength shared between trainer and pokemon; also the very hopes and aspirations of those Alolan Trainers who would follow him from others.
- Despite this Sun wears the mantle of Alolan Champion proudly knowing the difficulties taken to reach the top stage of his new home, and the associations its built him. He doesn't intend to run from these responsibilities or challenges. Instead he is waiting for the day Gladion can keep a certain promise to him, and spread his wings across the world toward new adventures.
- Sun has a dream of becoming the World's First International Champion by eventually winning every other pokemon league out there to challenge the heights and abilities of his pokemon to their limits!
- Sun is immensely more perceptive than people assume he is because of his laid back nature, and is very likely to pay attention to key details others would overlook through calm scrutiny. It is a trait that comes out partially in his more serious battles and that will serve him well in his future endeavors.
- True to the words he gave the International Police, he has never told anyone about his involvement in capturing the Ultra Beasts that escaped into their dimension. Including Gladion despite receiving information and the Beast Balls from Wicke. Since then he's purchased his own island to train and acclimate these strange poke-creatures to their world far more successfully than anyone may have imagined.
- Part of Sun's ability to tame the savagery of the Ultra Beasts comes from the fact he is bathed in Dimensional Energy like they are, making him a sense of 'comfort' alongside the fact he has dominated them in battle. This feat alone speaks volumes for Sun's ability to both survive and to overcome challenges on scales that would threaten the balance around them unflinchingly.
- One of the main reasons Sun took up the task to contain the Ultra Beasts was understanding they were at their core victims as much as they were assailants--drawn from their own universe and thrown into a new world--but also because he felt having them around and willing to assist could help Lille and Gladion's mother recover if they needed more information on the Ultra Beasts.
- Sun's Father is a trainer that left before the move to Alola to continue his own journey--he is the one responsible for giving Sun the foundation necessary to walk-in his own steps as a Trainer. Furthermore Sun learned his mixed-martial arts (a mixture of Akido, Swordsmanship, and Xingyi Quan) from his father.
- Out of their companions only Gladion's Silvally and some Team Skull Grunts know that Sun is a proficient martial artist despite his young age, having used his techniques to restrain them. This level of strength comes from dedicating to making himself as strong as he intends to help his pokemon become so they can truly fight as one.
- Sun's overall personal power was originally in the 9-C Superhuman rating (Street level power, but far above regular people); however, due to the effects of the Ultra Wormhole Energy on his physiology in addition to a strict martial training regiment Sun's power is comparable to 9-A standards. Sun, himself, has yet to notice his abnormal strength and ability but it can be seen through his actions and durability when: jumping off flying charizards into buildings without damage (Gladion), sparing with actual pokemon and adapting himself to them, and reacting beyond normal reflexes in situations where his strength should be much lower.
- He gets really excited whenever he meets strong people or pokemon that dedicate to their own martial practice stemming from the time he spent learning under his father. There are too few people Sun can really geek out with when it comes to personal strength and disciplines; however, should someone trigger a conversation they will find he is as passionate about the topic as he is about battling.
- He intends on challenging the Kanto League next once he is able to, and attempting to apprentice himself to Bruno and Koga to increase his martial prowess before moving to the other leagues.
- Sun is Heterosexual and feels that any relationship attempted with him in the future will require as great an understanding toward him as it does toward pokemon, signalling he values deep relational bonds over superficial attachments.
- It has been noted by Gladion that Sun does commonly make both puns to torment him and casual flirtatious commentary toward older girls. However it has never been shown if his comments are serious or simply to throw people off.
- One of Sun's greatest hopes is to go on another personal adventure with Lillie and Solgaleo together; even now he often thinks about the trials the three of them overcame together when it was still a Cosmog and she was still trying to find her own. He sends her letters to keep in touch but doesn't send them nearly as much as Hau.
- Sun's natural determination and optimism coupled by his decisive and dauntless personality make him a magnet for trouble, but also an reassuring ally for weathering the storms of life. No matter what circumstances are placed before him, he will always push forward in the end.
- The casual and delighted battle style Sun showcases is far different from the refined and almost ruthless battle style used when he is determined for victory due to high stakes (the safety of friends, the balance of the world, his and his pokemon's own lives on the line). On the level of personal strength and entertainment, Sun loves to battle and temper his bonds with pokemon and people. However, when circumstances push him to have to protect something his style of battle is cold and calculating causing even trainers three to four times his age to regret pushing the serious instincts out of him.
- When Sun grows older he will eventually become an Agent for the International Police after doing more joint operations to assist them in helping to keep world order; somewhere between his later twenties and early thirties he will have become The IP Chief through his own accomplishments.
- Sun is addicted to Malasadas. However this may be an emotional attachment, as he only heavily pushes to have them whenever he can spend time with his friends.
- Sun is extremely reckless and has been known to take actions others would find dangerous or suicidal without a second thought. Partially indicating traits of an adrenaline junkie coupled with a decisive nature to act when opportunity presents itself. This can be seen in his willingness to take on challenges pressed against him even when the odds are stacked in more mundane cases, to something as extreme as leaping off a Charizard and barrel punching through the Aether Paradise windows to reach Gladion during an emergency.
- Lusamine bought Sun's current outfit ( default image ) after a being treated to a tour of Melemele Island when she came to visit the boy. It was a small thank-you for her efforts with her family, and for a few days where she could retain youthful adventures missed. The inspiration of the outfit was to have a style all Sun's own--which Gladion and Lillie both contributed ideas. Gladion giving the most input.
