Alice Knightlord (Trinity Blood)

The adoptive human daughter of Cain knightlord.  Alice had been found barely breathing and badly injured, at the young age of three. Cain had found her almost lifeless body in the street, having been left for dead by a Methuselah.   For those who don't know, a Methuselah is the name of a group of vampire like people.   Taking the child in, Cain then raises Alice as his own daughter.   Cain displays no malicious or sadistic traits, his moral capacity and overall behavior appears to be quite childlike, and he seems to either care nothing for the suffering that he inflicts on others, or he does not truly understand the consequences of his actions.   Somewhat tragically however, he still appears to be capable of experiencing a facsimile of love, particularly for his brother Abel Nightroad.   For instance, when he met Abel for the first time after nine hundred years, he greeted him with tears in his eyes and apologized for having left him alone for so long. However, a few moments later he violently blew away Abel's head, and afterwards he lovingly embraced his brother's headless body.  Despite all this, Cain is rather affectionate towards Alice. However he has used her to his advantage, which she isn't aware of until she's older.  For instance, Alice and Cain are spending time at he nearby fair. While on their way to grab some fish and chips, Cain is stopped by his brother Able. Cain is alone, just before Able can confront Cain Alice comes running to Cain. This immediately stops the brothers interaction, possibly stopping a war between the two.   It is also possible that it was planed, knowing that once Alice was in the way his brother wouldn't dare to attack in fear of hurting the child.  Despite being used for Cain's own purposes, Alice isn't phased. Nor does she seem bothered by their terrorist attacks. Not until she's older.  Finally a teenager, Alice starts to realize Cain's true nature. She learns that he is the leader of a terrorist group, that other if not all members had murdered multiple people.   In the end, When Able kills his brother. Alice is later take by Able, living in the Vatican with him. Though Alice has a mission, it being her job to blow up the Vatican from the inside.   With Alice being Abel's niece, there is no suspicion towards the girl. However Alice is hesitant about her job, knowing if she doesn't do it at the right time she could be killed in the bombing   Even though Isaak would save her, Alice didn't was afraid to go through with her mission. Which led to Abel finding out, with a short fight between the two Alice is eventually disarmed. She later apologizes to Abel, even thanks him from stopping her. Though since she failed her mission, Alice is uncertain that she is safe despite Cain being "Dead."
