I appreciate quality, and the humbleness too, truly. But 'tis also a sense of getting in one's own way. We're not here trying to win a Pulitzer, after all. Nothing need be one-hundred-percent perfect.  And indeed, in a cooperative activity, it may even be detrimental to be so;  For if what we write is perfect, what room is there for a roleplaying-partner to add aught else? -Ruffles her hair fondly, for good measure- At risk of sounding as old as my character is -- and I so rarely need help with that, hm-hm -- I find that time is so often one of the major factors in the quieting of those intrusive thoughts.  If there was some other way, I like to believe we'd all be doing it! Hm, that's certainly a compliment I've never received before. Still, I am pleased you consider them so.  Ah, now see, I do believe you're exhibiting a quality that is typical amongst us roleplayer-y, writery folk;  Namely, an over-healthy dose of self-criticism. Useful at times, but stressful at others! If it is any help, I think your replies thus far are quite fine, and nothing you need worry about.  If you should ever wish my own guidance, or if there's aught I can do to help, please know you need only ask~ Pff, so long as you continue to reply, I doubt our story will gather dust.  After all, we've much further to go yet, hm? lσrd oғ ιnnιѕтrad Feb 3rd 2024 - 4:57 AM Send Comment | Send Message | Block User I certainly did no such thing! At least, not on purpose --  It does happen sometimes when hitting 'reply' while on a different medium from which the reply was sent (i.e. if one writer's on mobile and the other is on PC/laptop, or vice versa); I've never been on the receiving end, but had a number of my snappy titles partially-erased when folks reply on mobile, alas.  I would not be so cruel as to change your lovely title on purpose, I insist! -Comforts, comforts- So you say, spooky new friend, but I'm keeping my eye on you regardless.  Can't go boring you to death already, despite being a dusty old immortal -- Still, I'll endeavor not to distract you too much while you're having quiet-time, either.  lσrd oғ ιnnιѕтrad Feb 1st 2024 - 4:38 AM Send Comment | Send Message | Block User My reaction. Hmph. I suppose I can excuse such a transgression...for now, at least.  I'll just have to slip the original title back in at some point.  Nonsense, no offense given in the least; it happens to the best of us. Formatting, autocorrect, and all manner of other random difficulties that come with technology...we endure them all. I'd hope no one would be unsympathetic to such a plight! Here I assumed your silence might've meant you'd grown bored of our tale already. I do have that effect, sometimes -- am terribly boring. Aw, here's hoping all is as well as can be, when family situations are involved, and that the spooky maiden is given the opportunity to recover from such. Brain-draining, it can be indeed.  lσrd oғ ιnnιѕтrad Jan 30th 2024 - 5:14 AM Send Comment | Send Message | Block User I don't know, the current title does have a special charm to it, I'm finding. -Sage nods- Ah, worry not there, then -- I use that method a fair amount myself, since I've had page-refreshes on this site that have caused me to lose entire replies-in-progress before. And have had to deal with all manner of formatting issues, weird spacing, etc. It happens; technology making our lives harder when it's supposed to be doing just the opposite.  Oh no, your writing has been just fine so far. I simply wanted to make clear why I'm not including more details on Sorin's thought-process, his backstory, and so on at present. Most of the latter will be 'taught' to the twins by Sorin himself, once their tutelage begins, so I didn't want to end up repeating myself beforehand in internal monologue, hmhm. Alas, it stays the same for now~ A shame, I know. But I've come to enjoy it, I'll admit.  Ah, also, a tiny request -- let's stay away from the lighter-grey font, as it's actually quite difficult for me to read. I had to copy your reply into Word and change the font color before I could reply, hmhm.  Also, I do apologize for the slight brevity to my own replies. I tend not to share much of Sorin's thoughts often in roleplay, as I prefer to keep that sense of 'mystery' about him (and besides, unless your characters are mind-readers, they'd have no way of actually acting upon anything he doesn't put to word or action). As a result, sometimes I simply don't have much for him to do -- case in point, he's bringing the girls inside. I try to supplement this with physical detail instead, which I enjoy receiving just as much as giving.  I do hope that you have a pleasant weekend then, doing all those things more entertaining than our roleplay.  I will attempt to find other ways to keep myself busy, in the meantime~ lσrd oғ ιnnιѕтrad Jan 25th 2024 - 11:06 PM Send Comment | Send Message | Block User -Chuckles- Spooky friend, I meant that my own sadness abounds at not having added a catchy title to our roleplay -- not that sadness abounds was actually the title I meant to add. But now I'm keeping it there, because it amuses me~ Hmm. I will have to find music of my own to share, then. I'll admit I don't have many moody, gothic-esque tracks, if only because I tend to write in relative silence. Studying, however, is another matter. Perhaps rainy forest ambience will be appropriately-shared, considering the present scene in our roleplay.  Actually, I did word that purposefully. Sadness abounds.  I'm glad you found it suitable, however~ And thank you. I appreciate that you're open with your gratitude; 'tis pleasant to know that oneself is appreciated.  I will say I hadn't heard of the artist prior to your mention, so you've already managed to slide a new recommendation onto my list. I'll have to give some of their other tracks a listen. Put together a little 'In the Manor, With the Twins' playlist in your honor, hmhm.  I'm looking forward to playing with your twins; an understatement, perhaps. But I'll endeavor to be as patient as can be for that reply. After all, we've got what is hopefully a long way to go together, so there's no need to rush, either. (Or I say that to sound as patient as possible, we'll see how well I actually succeed there) I do hope you're sleeping pleasantly, spooky friend.  lσrd oғ ιnnιѕтrad Jan 24th 2024 - 8:45 PM Send Comment | Send Message | Block User Before I forget, you mentioned something before that I wanted to inquire about, for clarity's sake -- you mentioned that the twins age 'unnaturally' as a result of the ritual attempted upon them. Unnaturally, how? Do they age faster, or slower?  Ah, now that I empathize with, certainly. It's...a bit depressing, to use that over-utilized term, to see the difference between how many greetings I've sent out over the years, versus how many I've received replies to. Which isn't even discussing a story or the like, just a simple acknowledgement of one another -- something that you wouldn't think a tall ask. And yet it is, somehow. So, while it is unpleasant indeed to deal with the general malaise, muteness, etc; I'd call it par for the course here. Not something unique to aniroleplay, either. Roleplayers are an odd bunch.  In the same way that you aim to learn your characters by writing them, so I'll surely do the same. All of what I've alluded to so far -- Sorin's methods, how opportunistic or manipulative he might be, and so on -- will depend upon how he (and I, by extension) interact with your twins. My approach isn't cookie-cutter, and will conform to how they act around him, their personalities, and so on. So we'll both have some variability in our approaches; I think that's normal.  Well now, this is a moody track appropriate for the gothic halls of the Markov Manor, hmhm.  Aw, 'tis kind of you to reassure me thus, but worry not -- I've been around too long to be easily 'pressured,' but in the same vein, you're allowed to have preferences, too. As I do (and which, in turn, are inherited by my character); we may not have every element that pleases or intrigues another, but that does not mean we cannot enjoy them where they exist, or for those who are willing to explore them with us.  Now, I should prepare that starter for you. I'll apologize beforehand if it is somewhat...hmm, static, let's call it, as Sorin currently has naught to do but await the arrival of his two young charges. That said, I do want to offer a description of the Manor, and of Sorin himself, for the lady to appreciate.  Add Comment
