Solekari is the eldest son of Prince Fumihiko Fujiwara and Lady Huyoki Fujiwara. Grandson of Emperor Akiyama Fujiwara and Tomoyoshi Hiraoka. He is the first born of the next line. As a result, Akiyama had arranged it that he would be heir regardless if he was born to his second son Fumihiko after his uncle Saburo. Saburo had other plans when his own son was born nearly a year later. After Akiyama Fujiwara died of natural causes. Saburo that succeeded his father and rewritten that Prince Nakamura Fujiwara would become his heir, believing as the new emperor he should declare whom his successor should be.
Fumihiko taught Solekari the importance of being a prince and emperor. After all it was the way of the Fujiwara that all princes were to know of Kokurkan politics. He was then placed into Katsuyoshi's dojo. Solekari learned the way of the sword from him. Nakamura also was being taught by Katsuyoshi saw Solekari as a rival, then began bullying Solekari as a means to water down any ambition he had. While being taught he met Katsuyoshi's grandsons Souunkatsu and Katsumaru Wataku.
Souunkatsu who once was Nakamura's friend began to take up for Solekari after seeing the insecurity and bullying behavior. At that point Nakamura began to hate Souunkatsu. He also began to hate anyone who considered Solekari as their friend. Nakamura then disowned Katsuyoshi as his sensei and took up Takakuyo as his new sensei. The bullying from Nakamura had never stopped. Souunkatsuoften arrived to visit Solekari as a childhood playmate rather then Nakamura's.
At sixteen he was enrolled into the Akisho Academy with his cousin aswell as his friend Souunkatsu. The bullying from Nakamura became worse when Nakamura had injured Solekari by making his horse rear up. While Solekari was down on the ground. Nakamura with the intention to beat him with shinai was stopped by Souunkatsu and stood in his way while Takahiro and Kusamasa both took Solekari off the field to a medic. As Souunkatsu gotten a praise by Ichiro for intervening. Nakamura grown angrier.
As he graduated the Akisho Academy, he was given the duty of Royal Guard. Because he was a Prince, he was automatically given an officer's role. With that he took his job with stride. While he was a Royal Guard. His friend Souunkatsu became just a bodyguard for Prime Minister Fumihiko Fujiwara. While it wasn't as an important role as Solekari. It was a beginning to something. Takahiro Sakusho was given patrol duty at the docks and Kusamasa Himoto was transferred to the Korisen Prison to serve as a patrol guard. While Solekari sometimes pays mind to Souunkatsu. He often took his duty seriously.
Things went wrong when news that his friend Souunkatsu had been poisoned. As Royal Guard, Solekari went to go to investigate who was responsible. While there was no assassin to be found. One day things escalate in the courtyard when Prince Nakamura caught the younger Wataku brother among the princesses courd. Nakamura had him arrested, but not without backlash from Katsumaru and Nakamura's younger sister Princess Zakura. Nakamura wasn't alone as he had Hyokatsu Wataku, Souunkatsu's and Katsumaru's uncle as his own bodyguard.
Katsumaru fought hard and actually cause the spill of the poison which was inside Hyokatsu's clothes before he gets taken away. Soon after Souunkatsu had recovered, he was also taken into the dungeon for trying to free his younger brother.
Nakamura had both of the brothers arrested and thus set them for an execution trial. On the day of the execution, the trial was halted when Solekari enters and stops them. Solekari was reminded that he had no power to stop an execution trial. Which Solekari went over to the Wataku brothers and had them swore loyalty to him and hence they became his first vassals. Hence he proceeds to take up responsibility of their trial. Thus saving them. Having enough of Nakamura's spoiled attitude Solekari stops the guards and then challenges Nakamura to a Shinai tournament. The stakes were that Nakamura loses, Solekari takes his birthright as Crowned Prince and if Solekari loses that he would commit seppuku.
As a means of potentially destroying his rival, Nakamura took up the opportunity. After the agreement Solekari defeats Nakamura in the Shinai Tournament and Solekari became the Crowned Prince. While being the new Crowned Prince, Solekari turned the trial onto both Nakamura and Hyokatsu as Solekari had found that they were responsible for Souunkatsu's poisoning. Hence he had them locked away.
Ushimara/Kokurkan War and Succession
After about a month of taking Nakamura's place as Crowned Prince. Nakamura and his best retainer Hyokatsu had escaped their dungeon cell and became missing. Crowned Prince Solekari and also the Emperor had sent out Andohiyo shinobis to find their whereabouts. During the night, Emperor Saburo as well as his younger son Prince Taichi were assassinated by a man named Hiromasa Hitoshi. Solekari entered the throne room to find the assassin was still there waiting for him. Solekari proved to be a match for Hiromasa and he would retreat. In the month of investigation of who Hiromasa was, it was discovered that he was from Ushimara, an Empire located southwest of Kokurko. After Emperor Saburo was killed, Solekari was then crowned as the new Emperor.
