The love story between James Kingston and Celeste Cross would always go down in history as one for the books. At least to Octavia. Having met when they were both seventeen, the two became best friends. And slowly, slowly they fell in love. Knowing that their lives were entwined with one another, James gave Celeste his class ring, a symbol that they would be married one day. And they did. After high school graduation, the two eloped in secret before the summer was over. The couple moved into a small apartment, beginning their life as newlyweds while also navigating their own personal lives. It wasn’t long before Celeste found out she was pregnant, and nine months later they welcomed their first child into this world, a bouncing baby boy – Daniel James Kingston. Their life only gained more meaning that day, and they decided that this wouldn’t be their only child. Three years later, another unexpected – but definitely wanted – pregnancy happened, this time Celeste hoping for a baby girl.
On April 27th, 1997, James and Celeste rushed their way to the hospital, Celeste ready to give birth for the second time. The excitement between the couple was apparent, thick, and there was nothing but love between the two of them. Labor was hell for Celeste, but after several hours, the cries of their child finally filled the room. The baby girl was wiped clean before being placed in her mother’s arms, though it was short lived. The moment James laid eyes on his daughter, he scooped her from Celeste, walking out of the room. The bond between daughter and father was solidified, and everyone knew that in that moment, that little girl had her father wrapped around her finger.
Before Octavia was even able to walk, she was on the back of a motorcycle. Being the daughter of James Kingston – president of The Devil’s Own motorcycle club, her life was anything but quiet. Family had been an integral part of this lifestyle, and it was everything she could ever want or ask for. Days spent with her father on the back of his bike, big ole gatherings that brought other children around, and if anything, love upon love. However, the older Octavia got, the more she wanted out of Chimney Rock, North Carolina. It was too small for her big dreams, dreams of being a designer and living a life outside of cowboy boots and motorcycles. James was hesitant in the idea of letting his little girl go, but Celeste was insistent, fighting her husband for the sake of her daughter’s dreams. Eventually, that helped not only persuade James, but it also pushed Octavia to finally decide on leaving.
In 2015, Octavia found herself packing her bags and heading for New York. She found it easy to settle into the rougher parts of The Bronx, a sense of home settling over her with the diversity of life she found there. It didn't take her long to find a healthy balance between the student life and the nightlife that the city had to offer. She was falling in love with the big city, the stark difference from Chimney Rock pulling her under. It didn't hurt that when William Alexander Maxwell entered her life, hooking his claws into her, that she was one hundred and eighty percent in love with everything New York had to offer.
At twenty-two years old, Octavia was walking down the aisle gripping her father's arm. It was a small affair, but a dream nonetheless. After all, her only goal on that day was to marry the love of her life. Now Octavia Elise Maxwell, her life seemed near perfect. She had finished her degree, she was married to her one and only love, and she was planning on opening her own business once she managed to get everything together. Life felt as if a fairytale had sprung from the actual pages of a book, and she couldn't imagine anything better. Too bad fairytales seem to end in tragedy.
The call came unexpectedly. Then again, don’t they always? It was a blur, and sometimes Octavia wakes up wondering if it even happened. There is a moment, just briefly, where she forgets. But then it all comes crashing down. On September 19th, 2022, Octavia learned that her father, brother, and most of the MC that she had grown to know and love, had died in an explosion at the clubhouse. There was nothing else for her to do but pack a bag and fly home to Chimney Rock, desperately trying to get in contact with Will who had been on a business trip. Unfortunately, Octavia never did get in touch with him. Instead, when she landed in North Carolina and was met by the police, Octavia was informed that there had been another casualty: her husband. To this day, she still doesn't understand how the hell this happened. Her entire life was in ruin.
Spending the first few weeks grieving her entire family while also trying to help out not only her mother, but sister-in-law, her dreams of opening her business were pushed to the back burner. Soon, those weeks kept coming and before she knew it, her life in New York was no more. She flew back for one last week, packing up her entire life there and bringing it back to North Carolina with her. She still doesn't know how she managed to keep herself together in those months following the explosion.
It didn't take long before Octavia felt the pressure when she stepped foot back in Chimney Rock. A lot of eyes were on her, wondering what she was going to do. The Devil’s Own was in shambles, and most of the surviving members were arguing amongst themselves on what was to become of the club itself. Octavia wanted to let it fall apart, or at least someone else to take it over. She didn’t want in that life, at least not all the way. That was one of the reasons she had gone to NYC in the first place. But slowly her resolve began to crumble and she soon found herself wanting to rebuild her father’s legacy. On December 8th, 2022, Octavia Elaine Kingston patched in as the President of The Devil’s Own. There was no going back now. Though there would be consequences to her decisions. Ones that would not only ruin the morals of TDO, but also shatter Octavia’s heart into pieces.
Currently, Octavia is twenty-seven years old and residing in the Dilworth area of Charlotte, NC with her two dogs. She is running a local dive bar – The Blackout Bar - that was given to her by her godfather via will. She spends most of her time there, conducting business for both TBOB and The Devil’s Own. She is also in intense therapy, trying to work through the demons that are constantly haunting her, constantly struggling to keep her grip on her sanity. Life isn’t steady, and instead it is messy and chaotic. But will Octavia be able to conquer those demons and overcome her trauma, or will she be her own downfall? Only time will tell.
